What is the procedure for getting life insurance? I've heard so many stories about invasive testing, etc. that I'm nervous.

I am thinking about getting it through AAA - I have my car insurance through them, and it's bundled with my parents' homeowners and auto as well.

Any tips? What should I expect?

We just added a new additional policy for dh, it was easy and no big deal. He filled out a form and they took a few vials of blood and some urine. The harderst thing was scheduling everything around his schedule.

It was very simple. I went through Zander Insurance. They came to my house took my weight, height, a urine sample, a blood sample, my pulse, and my blood pressure. The lady I had was very nice and I nursed DS through most of it.

We have ours through Northwestern Mutual. A nurse came to our home and did a brief physical, took blood and urine samples, and that was it. Pretty easy. We pay a little over $50 a month for two $250K term insurance policies (I think they're 20 year policies, but can't remember off the top of my head... preggo brain )

Mine was pretty easy too. Done through USAA and the nurse came to the house took all that stuff.

As long as you're in pretty good shape with no medical ailments then you should be good.

I will share that since the weight and blood pressure they take factor into your premium/risk then I would try to schdule the nurse around your "monthly" or any time you tend to be "stressed".
Not sure how you are, but I tend to, literally, gain 10 pounds and my blood pressure is slightly higher around that time....and the nurse came in the evening after a full day of me working/conusming.
Just a thought.

Interesting. My husband just signed up and the insurance company did not do any testing. They get all of their health information from his physician.

it depends on how much insurance you are purchasing. 100K or higher and you will have a physical. Probably not with 25K or 50K. You can schedule the nurse visit for when you want- I always have had ours come at like 5:30 am.

eta- look in to a return of premium policy if you are going with term.
