Hi parents. Can anyone recommend a lightweight stroller for me and DD? We mostly take the bus. I can't stand the subway and try to avoid it at all costs. I am not impressed with the Maclaren Volo. Is anyone using a stroller that is easy to get DC in and out of on public transportation? Thanks in advance.

I also use a Triumph as I find it sturdier than the Volo, and I don't find the buckles too bad once you've had some practice. I don't love Maclarens for walking but they're probably the best type for the bus.

I think the Maclarens are the sturdiest lightweight strollers (the cheap umbrellas are awful) though I also heard good things about the lightweight UppaBaby.

Hi!

Not sure if we can post links to a store site in the forums, so I won't. But when I needed lightweight strollers, I used a Baby Trend one that was great (somewhat bulky when folded though) and then a Chicco which I also loved.

If you can get a good, sturdy umbrella stroller, that's not bad if your baby is big enough for one. Yeah, most are pretty cheaply made, but I found an awesome Elmo one that is really heavy duty! Super light and a snap to close for public transportation!

Best thing to do is go to a store and test putting your baby in and out and folding the stroller to see what is going to work best for you.

We have two $20 umbrella strollers that we got at Babies R Us. They don't have a brand-name on them; they usually have a display of them near the larger strollers. They're really sturdy for being so cheap, and they are so light I can carry one in my hand while holding a toddler on the same arm.

I have a Maclaren Volo and by far it has been the best stroller for us. Its lightweight, flods up quickly and it is really easy to use on the subway/bus/streetcar. The only complaints I have about the Volo are: the seat does not recline (which is no big deal for me as my LO no longer naps
) and when it is folded up the wheels touch the canopy, making it dirty

All in all its a great stroller, I've owned it for over 3 years now, and its been through snow, rain, frigid cold temps, on an airplane 2X, and I have used it for both my children and its held up perfectly

ah ha! i was wondering what was getting my canopy so dirty...never occurred to me it was the wheels. they should really consider doing something about that...might shoot them an email. otherwise, love our volo as well...it's easy to open and close and the shoulder strap is very comfortable.

For what it's worth, I ride on buses a lot and I HATE the Volo because I'm always thisclose to hitting someone with wet & dirty wheels, it rolls away when I put it under the seat and it doesn't stand up on its own, it whacks me in the Achilles tendon when I'm trying to carry it, sometimes it folds and sometimes it doesn't, I could go on and on.

The G-Lite is much better if you're going to spend that much money.

I know several people who have a cheap ($20), tiny folding stroller that they use when they're going on the bus/subway and a more expensive, nicer stroller that they use for longer walks.
