I have a really bad pain in my right breast. Almost like a very sore knot. It feels just like when I had mastitis, but every time I've gotten that within the first 24 hours I had a raging fever and was pretty much non functional. And it was all red on the outside. This time it is just the pain and discomfort without the fever or redness. Any ideas what it is and what I should do for it. I've been nursing on that side a lot- but anything else I can do?

I don't have any personal experieince with it , but to me it sounds like a plugged duct. Have you tried massaging it? Get in the hot shower and let the water hit your breasts, nurse baby with lower lip on that side of it. Uhhh, I wish I had more info for you but I am feeling too tired right now to look it up. Try a search under plugged ducts at kellymom.com. I hope you feel better soon.

ok, I'll try nursing her in a different position- I've tried hot water and massage. I haven't tried a position that puts her bottom lip in line with it though. Thanks!

ok, I do think it is plugged duct but it is getting worse intead of better. It started hurting monday or tuesday (can't remember) and today it seems to be greatly incresing in pain. It is SOOOO tender now. I've tried warm compress, massage, hot showers and lots of nursing (I'm tandem- so there is always someone eager and willing
)

What else can I do? How long does this take to go away? I've had mastitus twice and it healed so much faster
suggestions?
