Does anyone know of a good playgroup in Lincoln? My husband and I have been looking for a group of like-minded parents to get to know. We haven't had any luck yet, so I'd appreciate news of any groups you know of!

hello there
i used to go to milkworks every week, but its not specifically a playgroup, more of a gathering of mom's and babes and talking amongst the mom's a little more than playing.
that said, i loved it but my work schedule has changed so i can no longer go the night i was going ... and would love to find a playgroup also. sucks for me though as i work 2nd shift and have weekdays off (tues, wed).
so, i'll be watching for responses also.

I'd thought about the Milkworks groups but my work schedule is never the same from week to week, and DH would like a group where he'd be comfortable going without me. Plus, Milkworks is a long ways from our home. Hopefully there's something out there that someone knows of!

No-unfortunately I had to go back to work as my maternity leave was over . DH and I would still love to do something if anyone has ideas or suggestions.

DH and I are almost always free Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons and Tuesday evenings will be free for us after November-we have very flexible work schedules. Tuesdays are better for us though. What works for everyone else?

I would love to find a time that worked out for everyone! Or maybe a couple different nights a week so that if you miss or you aren't able to make it there's another one!

What do you guys think? Weekly, Bi-Weekly, or Monthly? What works best for everyone? It sounds like Tuesday or Wednesday nights work for most of us?

I'm actually living in York. It seems as though everyone here is so... (think of a nice word, think of a nice word...) unfriendly??? LOL! I think it would be really great to get together with some friendly like minded moms and for our kids to be able to enjoy each others company. So I don't mind driving to Lincoln at all!

Bi-weekly or monthly would probably be best for us-we're just too busy to commit to another weekly meeting. Tuesday evening works really well-Wednesday afternoons are okay, but our Wednesday evenings are hectic already.

We also need a place to meet. Suggestions?

I'm already looking forward to our first meeting!!!

Ok mamas!

So I've emailed Jen and messaged Jami. Here's what I was thinking...

Bi-weekly starting December 4th and then again on December 18th
OR
Monthly starting Decemeber 11th? Or 4th? Or even 18th?

Time: 6 or 7pm? Or is this too late?

Maybe we could vote on this?

Any suggestions on where to meet?

I too am looking forward to meeting everyone!

I'd vote for 6 just because Joseph starts to get pretty tired by about 8, but I could do 7 if it works better for everyone. December 4 and 18 are free for us, but I don't have a good location suggestion. I guess what I would vote for is setting a first meeting date, time, and location and then we can decide that night if we want to meet bi-weekly or monthly and settle more long term details since we'll all be together. How does that sound?

Ok!

I think Jen had a great suggestion to take turns meeting at each others houses during the winter months. How does everyone feel about this? Or she said there was also a place by the zoo for children to play.

Ethan and Grace are usually in bed around 8pm too, but I'm flexible too!

Jessica, I think that waiting to decide long term specifics for our little group would be fine!

OK, so lets pencil in December 4th (6 or 7pm) as our first meeting... I haven't heard back from Jen or Jami yet about what time works for them. Hopefully I will soon! Also, (if you like the idea of meeting at each others houses) does anyone want to volunteer to be the first? I would gladly do it, however, we live in York.

So, lets have a head count! Who is going to be able to make it to our first meeting? I'll go first...

Tabitha
Gracie is 3 1/2 years
Ethan is 12 months

Count us in too! Joseph is nearly 6 months, so he might spend the first few meetings watching more than playing!

Since Joseph isn't mobile yet our house isn't really baby-proof yet (been putting that off far too long ). We would certainly be willing to host soon since DH will have some time off after the semester is over and can work on the house then, so I would prefer waiting a time or two before we host if that's okay.

Now, I'm really excited for Tuesday!!!

to start i want to say that i feel like a jerk : for not noticing that i'm on call at work from 7-11pm on tuesday ... its pretty unlikely that i'll get called in, but i have to keep that in mind
that said, i'm not on call wed the 5th or tues the 11th. my house would be ok to start out at. i do have two cats, so hope there's no allergies ! and, we could still tenatively plan on this tuesday, i would know for sure by 5:30 if i was getting called in but probably would know earlier than that ... damn i am a bit : at myself for not noticing that!!!!

LOL! It's ok Jen! No biggie for me on the being on call thing! If you are ok with it, we can still plan on Tueday. If not, just let us know! I think Jessica is busy on Wednesday nights but is open in the afternoon. Is that right Jessica?? So just let us know what you feel comfy with!

Then I want to say...
for offering to be our first hostess!
