I'm 30 weeks today and still no sign of a linea ***** under my belly button. I KNOW I had it with my last two pregnancies, but I can't remember when it appeared. Anyone have it already?

From June DDC but mine didn't show up this pregnancy until 32ish weeks. I've had it earlier in previous pregnancies, but it took longer this time around for whatever reason?! Mine only goes up to my navel as well, though I am thinking it may extend from my navel upwards in the next couple of weeks.

I had one with my first two pregnancies also, and I'm sure it was there much earlier than this (31w). This time I just have a very, very faint line, and it goes all the way up. It's nowhere near as dark as it was with my first two.

I have a friend who had one with her 1st pregnancy, but none for the 3 pregnancies that followed. So I guess it's normal!

I have a selective one. My belly button is dark and there are spots in a line going down from the belly button that are dark...but it's not a line per se just a few darker spots. I'm 32 weeks, maybe it is on it's way but not fully here yet!

The weirdest thing is I remember after the birth of my first child, I was able to peel/exfoliate off the dark skin of my belly button to reveal the color as it was prepregnancy.

I never got one last time, and so far haven't gotten one this time either.

I'm 28 weeks and I have an oh so faint line. I am pretty sure it was more pronounced at this point with my two previous pregnancies. I was just thinking about it last week and then a few days later a faint line appeared... perhaps I am hallucinating?? Mine is odd though, it is very off centered. It looks funny and it kind of embarrassing to have.

I had a really faint one last time but it didn't show up until the very, very end (don't remember exactly how many weeks I was). This time I don't see any sign of it yet, but I'll be 30 weeks Monday so there's still time for it to develop!

I've got a pretty good one going, from about 6 inches above my navel down (presumably, I can't see it) the whole way. It's been there for a month or so.

It's psychologically weird, because it doesn't make sense. Stretch marks? None yet, but sure, they make sense, the skin's growing quickly. Other signs of hyperpigmentation, like splotches? Sure. But a line, right straight down the middle? Why?

I think mine came earlier last time too... I have a very faint darkening of skin where it will be (though it's still too light to say it's really there officially). I'm almost at 31 weeks and I suspect by 33 it will be readily visible.

The weirdest thing for me though was how dark the line got after giving birth... kind of like if you write on a balloon with a marker while it's all inflated, then let it deflate. Made sense in retrospect, but I didn't expect it!

I never have had a line, I just get a brownish belly button.

Got one here! It's not very dark but you can definitely see it. It goes down from my belly button and UP from my belly button! I don't exactly know when it appeared, I think it's been there for a while though. And around my belly button is an area that's a bit darker too.

I am totally intrigued by this too. I was talking about it to DH and I was thinking there must be some evolutionary purpose to it...something that was important a long time ago but now isn't.

I read about this sometime ago because I was also intrigued. read first about the linea ***** here and then if you'd like about the linea alba here

In my last pregnancy I had one that darkened quite a bit but only up to my belly button. This time around I have one going up to my ribs, but it's still rather faint. FYI, my areolas never really darken. Actually they seem to blend into my regular skin tone. It looks pretty wierd. So this whole pregnancy hormone pigment thingy is just whacked on my body.

I don't have it so far and I'm almost 31 weeks. I had it with my son but I don't remember when it showed up. I do remember that it took several months after he was born to go away.

Mine has been faint but there for a while now. The only pic I have that shows it from my first preg was at about 32wks and it was pretty dark then. Now it's not as dark but it definitely is there. DH calls it my "Mouse Tail" and it goes all the way from the top of my belly down to the bottom - very strange.

I remember this too!

Chase mommy, mine is off-center too. I find it slightly annoying/funny because I like things to be tidy!

flitters "The weirdest thing for me though was how dark the line got after giving birth... kind of like if you write on a balloon with a marker while it's all inflated, then let it deflate. I noticed this too. I also noticed that my belly was over-all quite dark. I'd gotten a slight tan on my belly during pregnancy, but when the 'balloon' deflated, it looked so much darker!

My midwife years ago told me that your linea ***** was your "center point" from when you were first developing. Not sure if it's true or not, but kinda cool. Mine has been there since about 25 weeks. It's lighter this time than in my previous pregnancies. I'm also getting pigmentation on my face, and holy cow are my nipples dark! Good think DH thinks it's cute

I always thought the linea negra was to be a visual cue for the baby to make it's way up to the breasts.

Crazy about the darkening tan!

I have never gotten the linea negra with any of my pregnancies, and my belly button never popped out and my water never broke before the babies came out.

I feel like I missed out!
