My DH and I decided to keep our son intact. Some family members have questioned our decision. I can understand that with no problem. However, I would like to print out some articles to show them many of the reasons we made the decision that we did.

What are some of the best articles you have found online?

TIA!

We need to get Tara here. She has a list of links as long as your arm.

You can start off with the statements of the pediatric and medical associations of the US, Canada, Great Britian, Australia, and New Zealand. I would also look at the NOCIRC and NOHARMM sites and at all of their links.

here is one that rebutts the AAP statement from a group of doctors:

http://faculty.washington.edu/gcd/DO...r10-15-02.html

I'm sure that by now, they have given you every reason they can think of and you're just getting weary of it. If that's the case, just tell them the decision is made and it will not be changing. However, if this is to try and protect other boys in your family, let me buy you a high speed printer!

A new one to add to the list:

www.notjustskin.org

Also, as Frank has pointed out before, you have to figure out the real reason they support circ and tackle that - if you send them a huge list of links they will probably just tune out. If you can talk to them and figure out their bottom line issue (hygiene? social conformity? xyz?) then you can specifically refute it.

p.s. Frank, I emailed your yahoo address - did you get it? Introducing you to the founder of NotJustSkin? Urgent help needed...

All of the links are great, and it's good to have the information handy. But I might try approaching it in another way.

When people ask why you aren't circumcising your son, ask them why in the world you would want to cut off part of his penis? It is an incredibly painful, sexually damaging, unnecessary thing to do - if they can give you some great reason to do it, you'll consider it.

Otherwise - why in the world would you do that to your tiny newborn? I would just ask in an incredulous voice.

It really is in incredibly stupid, harmful, horrible thing to do. THEY are the ones who should have to justify the decision to do it.

Thank you guys so much for the help! My step-sister is currently pregnant with her first boy and I am hoping some of this information may make its way to her and her DH and help them to make the same decision my DH and I did.

Thanks again.
