I have friend who may be pregnant (so looks like it, but is not telling anyone yet), if not she will be thinking of it sooner or later. Anyway, I was talking to her about extended bf. And she was like well it is only important for the first 6 months then after that it doesn't really matter, it may be just for bonding.

I told a few things. But I want some info that I can send her so she can read. I did research on my own when I was preg. but I can't remember where I got them from.

Anybody have a few links off the top of their heads?

Thanks

Maybe try the AAP or WHO websites. I'm sure she'll find a bunch of info when she starts reading about breastfeeding.

I know before I got pg, I always thought I'd bf for 6 months. (No real reason, it just seemed like the right number.) Somewhere in my pregnancy, that idea changed to one year. Then when DD was an infant my goal changed to at least 2 years. Now I'm planning on doing CLW, mixed in with some PLW just so I can stop pumping at work and start getting more than 2 hours of sleep in a row.

Anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say is that her thoughts will change, and they'll likely change in favor of longer bfing, not shorter.
