I have been pondering for a while trying to switch things up with my work schedule just to get a little more time for housework and errands and for DS. I thought about asking if I could reduce my work hours from 40 to maybe 30, but that's problematic for a number of reasons, the reduction in income of course being a big one.

Then today I thought of how some people I've known worked a schedule with 9-hour days and one full day off every two weeks. I proposed it to my boss, and I had this long list of reasons why it was a good idea and would benefit the company, but he cut me off and was like, "Sure, what hours do you want and when do you want to start?" I also asked to reduce my lunch break from 60 minutes to 30, so my workday is only 30 minutes longer overall, and that was fine too.

So my longer days start today and I will have this Friday off! I figure I will take DS to preschool in the morning, clean/organize the house (which REALLY needs it), then pick him up after nap and take him to the pool. I'm really excited! I wish I would have thought of asking for this sooner!

I did that' rather than work 4-10's i set it up so I can work one 10 hour shift and two 15 hour shifts so I get 4 days off a week. Not that it matters that much, we are short staffed so I always fill in anyway LOL.

I wish I had that option. I always get sooooo much done when my DH isnt home. I know that sounds bad but I would love one weekday to run errands get my housework done and spend time with DD. It is so nice to go into a weekend with a clean house. I'm happy for you , but make sure you get sleep before those long days.

Feeling the downside...it's 5:45 and instead of sitting in my living room sipping a cocktail, I'm still at work dammit!

But with this Friday off and next Monday a holiday, I'm looking at a 4-day weekend! Woo-hoo!
