Wanted to start a thread for us mama's living with PCOS.
(Polycystic Ovarian Syndrom)

I was dx in 1997 with PCOS. I have given birth to three children since then.
I am currently struggling to get this excess weight off. Dealing with being anovulatory, yet again. Not taking any Rx's...using a natural alternative to Metformin. Also, using natural Progesterone cream.

Living with pcos is a journey...to say the least.

Share away...i am looking forward to reading other posts.

Definitely a journey. I have 2 daughters, am not taking any rx. Was diagnosed at 21yo. I still question it somewhat, but I feel its the best the doctors can do for now. Gotta run catch the babe...

I hear ya Carrie. I think that we are putting to rest ttc....as I am asking dh to have a vasectomy. :
After 4 pg and 2 living kiddos...I believe that I am finished.
It has been very heart-wrenching, needless to say, to come to this decision. However I do feel it is the best one for ME.

I am still going to acupuncture, taking Chinese Medicine, using progesterone cream....and working really hard at losing 30-40 more pounds. I am down almost 30 pounds now..... :

Hi! I'm another mama living w/ pcos. I also have chronic fatigue syndrome, and that makes pcos look like a walk in the park most of the time... but anyway. I swear the pcos hit me all of a sudden. I went from weight 110-115 to being a frim 140 in a matter of months. I started dieting and exercising... I was exercising for 1 1/2 hours daily and eating nothing but lettuce (well, i exagerate but still!) for a year and nothing happend- the weight didn't budge. I also just love growing the strange hair. I have hairy fingers and a mustache... I can wax it off and it's there the next day. I carry tweezers with me wherever I go. It's the hair and the weight that really bug me. I was able to conceive w/o medication. I was a week away from starting clomid when we got pregnant! I was taking glucaphage to regulate my "diabetic" like symptoms and cutting the soy almost entirely out of my diet helped so much too. It took me a year to conceive... which is a normal amount of time to NOT take that next step into perscriptions for infertility... imo. I've had pcos since 1999.
Anyway, that's me!

Yes...like as recent as this past week. The decision became very clear to me while my dh has been away on business.
In fact, today I began packing up all the baby items....preparing to sell, give away 99% of it.

Part of me feels "FREE", yet the other part of me is full of grief.

I always believed I would have three living children. Something bigger than me had something else in mind, huh?

Thanks for your kindness Carrie!!!

I was dx'ed officially in 1996, I think, and have had one ds. I am 39 and we aren't going to try again. I used injectible fertility meds, and as we kind of had a male issue as well (dh cannot climax during intercourse), even though I'm now getting regular periods, there is pretty much no chance of my getting pg, especially with the low estrogen from bfing causing sex to be very painful for me (I'm thinking I might have vulvodynia, or whatever that word is, for a painful vaginal area). Glad you started this thread!

I was dx'ed in January of this year. My doc said that I could of had it since i was a teen I am 23years old. I am taking metformin for it. I went from weighing 160lbs to 197lbs. I have lost about 23lbs. My husband and I have been ttc for 3 years now we never could figure out why I couldn't get pregnant until I went to a specialist and he told me I had pcos. I hope to get to know most of you that have pcos.

Count me in. They suspect I've had it since puberty (age 13) if you track the symptoms. Misdx'd and missed dx over the course of the last 20 years. By the grace of God, I have (to the astonishment of my perinatologist) never had trouble conceiving--only bringing a living child into the world. I have one and it was ROUGH!

Unfortunately, when my insulin is not in check, I get horrific depression. I'm talking the "she should be locked up" kind. Thankfully I have a homeopath Dr. that found a supplement that works like Metformin, but that I can take while nursing. MetaGlycemx (spelled correctly) by MetaGenics if anyone's interested. I take 4 pills/day and weigh 180 pounds (down from 212--but heading back to 135 and a size 6 dang it!).

Anyone post on PCOSupport? I can't get used to their new system!

Thanks Heather...and welcome!!!

I have been taking MetaGlycemx, 4 pills/day for 30 days. I haven't seen any change...YET!!!
How long did you take it BEFORE seeing/noticing a difference?
Just curious....I was thinking of up'ing my dose to 3 pill in the AM and 3 pills in the PM...
Of course, I will discuss this with my ND before doing so... :LOL

I just purchased 2 more bottles of MetaGlycemx (120 ct per bottle)...hoping that just sticking with it will do the trick.

Any feedback would be great!!

TIA...

You can count me in!

I was officially dx'd during a surgery last year to remove a huge cystic mass on my right ovary. I have had 7 m/c, and have had a hard time TTC naturally.

I take vitex when not taking clomid, to regulate my period.

I also found that taking vitamin c every day helps too.

Im subing to this thread too!
