i just put my little guy in his first Liz's Cloth size 1 and the thighs seem really small! He is only 2 1/2 weeks old - how can this diaper possibly fit to 20 lbs?? Is there some sort of trick to getting the thighs to fit right?

I was wondering about that myself. These are the best fit on ds, but now that he is starting to really chub up the thighs are looking kind of snug! The elastic is really stretchy and it's not leaving any marks on him, but sometimes I do snap the next larger setting on the legs.

Looking forward to other mamas' replies!

I bought a size 1 for my son (who is currently a few days over 11 weeks) and it doesn't fit now. He only wore it twice and he currently weighs 15 lbs. :

So, you aren't the only ones!

On the other hand, size 2 Liz's look like they'll last FOREVER. They've got great stretchy elastic and 4 snap settings. They're "fluffy" on my 16 lb 4 month old chunk, but there are no gaps at all, and she's not even on the smallest snap setting. I'd be tempted to buy infant prefolds and then go straight to these. My kids start big though

The size 1's looked small on Colin when I first tried them on him (at about 15lbs), and he is long and skinny. A couple of pounds later, he fit in the size 2's fine (though they are a little puffy for regular use - but that will get better).

The 1's are probably good newborn dipes but really don't last up to 20lbs on a lot of babies - unless you like the super-low-slung bikini style! But the 2's are a great deal!

The size 2s seem to fit a really long time- ds has been in these since 20 or 21 lbs and is still on the second smallest snap setting (and they fit great).

You also have to remember that baby's change shape as they get older. Kayla actually fits in diapers now at two years old that were too small at 6 months. She slimmed down a LOT.

Kayla stayed in her size 1's until 20 pounds, but she is long and lean. It really is better to go by the waist/rise/thigh measurements than weight. A lot of diapers that say the fit 20-35 pounds for instance are too big for Kayla and she weighs 23 pounds.

Lots of different shapes in kids. If I had a baby over 13-14 pounds though, I'd go for the size 2's they really are very adjustable.

I don't know about Liz's Cloth but I had the same problem with my Bizzy B Hive hemp fitted diapers. It feels like my non-hemp diapers are a little more stretchy and accommodating of my daughter's chunky thighs.

My kids are Ben and Maggie too, more to the point!

hi! nak

some info on Liz's cloth: i have older liz's cloth and "newer" ones. the old ones seem right on, but not the new ones. i asked liz about this and she said they are cut from the same pattern, but she got a new sewing machine which probably makes the elastic tighter. the new ones certainly won't go to 20#, but it is just an average or estimate. maybe it would for some babies w/really skinny thighs?? you're not alone! My guy is 13# w/8" thighs and that's the top end, I think. i really doubt this dipe will go to 10".

I tried another one on him today and I pulled the elastic out more before I snapped it and it seems to fit much better. I have it on the middle snap. That makes me feel better - but I am pretty sure it still won't make it to 20 lbs.

Benjismom - that is so great!! What a funny coincidence! Is your Maggie a Margaret? Our is just Maggie.

I never had any size 1's, but I have a couple size 2's, and they are mainly night-time diapers. For my 25lb'er, they still fit great, lots of growing room left, even with a premium prefold folded inside.

OT: Laurag--My Maggie is Margaret, although our desire to call her Maggie was the tail that wagged the dog. So cool that Maggie is your dd's full name.

Andreac: I'm in Park Slope--moved here a year ago. Glad to see another Brooklyn mom. I'm kinda surprised there aren't more.
