Hi everyone! I live in Virginia, and the rest of my family is in TX and all over the west. We are interested in finding a location somewhere in Tennessee for about 25 people, 12 children under 10, to have a family reunion. We like mountains and water, swimming, etc. but we don't want to totally rough it.

Does anyone have a favorite state park they could recommend in central to western Tennessee? I saw they have some cabins that look nice, we could rent two cabins with 3 bedrooms each ... We have time to look around and plan, but I've only driven through TN so I don't know much about what is there.

Oh, we're not very interested in country music culture, etc., so getting away from cities would be preferable, however we'd like to be about an hour or so from a large city with airport (Memphis, Nashville) for some people to fly in?

The further west you go, the flatter it will be....so your mention of mountains will come into play there. IMO, stay FAR away from the Gatlinburg area in east TN. : Lots of stuff to do (touristy things) but really crowded. I personally like the Cherokee National Forest, but that likely won't fit your criteria of being nearby to an airport.

By all accounts, Fall Creek Falls is one of the prettiest parks in the state:

http://www.tennessee.gov/environment...ls/index.shtml

I was going to suggest Fall Creek Falls too, but I don't think it's exactly close to an airport. It's about an hour and a half west of Knoxville.
