Sorry if this is TMI, but I can't find enough information on it. DD was born 8.5 weeks ago (via undesired c-section). Vaginal discharge lasted about 6 weeks; toward the end it seemed white or yellowish, and I noticed just a little at the end of the day.

Last Saturday, I thought AF was returning. I had some dark red blood but only for a day with a little more the next day (which would be a lot shorter and a lot less than normal). When it didn't continue, it occurred to me that it seemed suspiciously like the implantation bleeding I got with DD. Then I started thinking... what I thought was the end of lochia could have been fertile cm. I've been charting using TCOYF since October a year and a half ago, but I hadn't started charting again since DD's birth. I thought for sure I'd be infertile for two or three months.

We are ebf, but we got a slow start. She refused to nurse in the hospital and got dehydrated, so she had formula and some pumped breastmilk for the first two weeks. We didn't firmly establish breastfeeding until she was a month old, and I later learned that I wasn't pumping as much as I should have been the first few weeks when she wasn't nursing regularly. So I think that the LAM may not apply to me.

The LAM rules in TCOYF apply to me now. We're nursing on demand, frequently enough, etc. I'm almost finished reading Breastfeeding and Natural Child Spacing by Kippley. I'm now following all of those rules except for daily nap, which I don't always get. But I'm concerned that my fertility wasn't suppressed because of our nursing problems in the first month.
I've taken a hpt three times in the past five days -- all negative. So I hope I'm worried over nothing, but I don't know what that bleeding could have been.

Thanks for any information.

I've had c/s's and have had early return of fertility with my first two (got pregnant pretty quick ). My first few AF's were pretty light, I would guess it was the start of your body getting back into fertility cycles. I would start charting now. After my last baby I started charting as soon as I saw EWCM, and I was able to pick up on O before my first AF.

Thanks. I guess it was my body trying to start up cycles again. I've been charting since posting that (and paying closer attention to my cm!).

I also read about something called a "sixth-week bleed," which is bleeding that occurs a few days after lochia has stopped, around six weeks postpartum. Here's a short article about it:
http://findarticles.com/p/articles/m...55/ai_19347051
Perhaps that's what I had.
