OK...sort of Waldorfy...I mean - glass blowing is taught in some of the older grades classes - right?

We spent the weekend in Lincoln City, Oregon. The city places artisan blown glass fishing floats along the beaches - a few each day. This year they are placing 2009 from October to May for beach combers to find.

I didn't find my own, but I've always wanted to try blowing glass - so I went to the Jennifer Sears Glass Studio and did it!

Such an awesome experience. I'm so glad I didn't find one on the beach - because I doubt I would have forked over the money to blow my own if I had found one. It will definitely be something we do now when we visit Lincoln City.

That is beautiful. I love glass and have always wanted to try glass blowing!

I have to say I read the thread as saying "Boat" and I kept thinking "holy crap, she's a beginner and has blown a boat shape?!"

Me too- I was imagining this!

The float is just beautiful. We have a blowing studio just down the street... I wonder if they'd let me take a shot?

I read it as boat too! But the float is really cool! What a really neat experience and special object to remember it by!!

We have a big Renaissance Festival with a couple of glass-blowing set-ups and I've always been fascinated by the process! Fortunately DH is equally fascinated so he's willing to sit and watch the glass-blowing with me. :-D One day maybe we can take a class together or something. That would be too cool!!
