I'm looking for a cookbook to help me shift the focus of our eating habits.

Currently, the meat is the main course, with veggie/starchy side dishes. I would like to reduce the amount of meat we consume to 10 oz. per week - I had thought to do this by having the veggie dish be the main dish of the meal, and the meat be a side dish.

So can anyone recommend a cookbook with vegetarian/vegan main dishes? Preferably one that doesn't contain tofu in a majority of it's meals.

you could try:

"Vegetarian Cooking for Everyone"

or

"The Greens Cookbook"

both by Deborah Madison

also, all of the Moosewood cookbooks are good!

good luck.

I've borrowed a heap of books from the library and to be perfectly honest I've found the most yummy recipes on the internet!! I just google vegan (or vegetarian) recipes and it brings up multitudes of stuff! www.vegweb.com is also a good starting point (and middle point and everything else-lol) and here is another good source. I went through the "what's for dinner" thread, the lentil thread and a burger thread and finally go to your library and borrow everything they have! That way you can sift through the tofu/soy stuff (I'm soy allergic so I can often only use some of the recipes too) and just copy down your favourites. Good luck with reducing your meat consumption! I was the same as you guys before becoming veg!
