I am pregnant with a girl, and we currently have a son. Issues about gender are already freaking out my DH, poor guy. My DH wants me to buy him a book about how to raise strong and confident girls. Does anybody have any suggestions?

There's a book I liked called Cinderella Ate My Daughter. There's also a book more about older girls called Queen Bees and Wannabes about helping your child understand the girl style of bullying.

Steve Bidulph's book RAising Girls is excellent. He divides life from birth to 18 years old into seven stages and, for each stage, discusses what he thinks are the important things for parents to consider and do to help their girls navigate the world and be confident and secure.

I found it very inspiring and it is very AP-friendly. It's also easy to read and each chapter has a summary of key points at the end.
