Preferably Chesterfield, but would consider Clayton, Ladue or Brentwood. If you go to one these areas, please share.

I recently went to Salon Escape in Chesterfield and was not impressed. I thought the cut was ok but the color - you could barely tell that I can any done!!

TIA!

I go to Dominic Michael in Chesterfield. I think the owner is a complete jerk, but the my stylist is very nice (as is everyone else I've encountered there besides him). She does a really great job with my hair.

Somedaymom,

How much cuts and colors they run there? I babysit a child whose aunt works there. I was going to ask her to do my hair but I assume they are way out of my price range. So i don't want to embarrass myself.

I was thinking about Dominic Michael as well. I saw online that their cuts start at $39 which is cheaper than where I used to go - Studio Branca. I just wasn't thrilled with my color there either..... maybe it's my hair, I dunno. But I've never had problems in the past or maybe they just don't know what I want exactly. I paid $120 for cut and color - felt like I got ripped off.

I have been seeing one of their associate level stylists and she is 39 for the cut and 120 for the highlights (I do the full head foil). That would be the least expensive there, not sure how that lines up with other salons in STL b/c I have been gone since 1993 I was worried about seeing an associate and had asked for someone level 2, but they didn't have an opening soon enough. The associate has been really great though. I don't see how anyone else could do a better job

Great to hear! I will certainly be giving them a try my next go around. I seriously just got my hair cut three weeks ago and I'm already having to pull it back in to a pony tail and it just feels so thick - much more than normal. She apparently didn't 'thin it out' enough....

I pay $32 for a cut, but I don't get a style or blow out because I never do those things in regular life anyway, which is why I want an excellent cut I don't have to coddle with product and irons.

When I get cut and color (semi-permanent -- I'm going for that "only her hairdresser knows for sure" look, and Slater nails it) I pay $100 with tip ... so about $50 or so for color.

Do you have a short haircut? My hair is thick, semi wavy if I let it go hair dry and an inch or so past my shoulders.

I go to Sara Holland at Studio 703 - there are three Saras. I simply love her work!

She's pregnant and due in six weeks so you would have to get in quickly, but she's totally worth the money. I want to say a cut and color is around $100.

She's the kind of hairdresser that looks at your face and coloring and just "knows" what works.

See, that's what I need. I have stylists that ask me what I want and sometimes, hell I don't know... I don't like that sort of pressure. Isn't that all part of their job anyhow?

I need that, too. When I first went to Sara I had a cut and color that I *thought* looked good and she very gently suggested that I do XYZ and it looks a million times better. Seriously, she's good. I'm not attached to my hair or my style so I just let her go for it and I couldn't be happier.

I even had my husband start with her and he looks so much more handsome.

Right on. That's what I like to hear. How much does she charge for men's haircuts?

Hmm. It seems like his charge is always $30 so I'm going to guess $22 with $8 tip. I can ask him if you want specifics, but it's in that ballpark.
