I have a nine month old baby girl who needs a good pediatrician. Preferably someone who is a naturopath and an md. Does anyone have any recommendations? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

We see Dr. Nancy Aton, at the Swan Clinic and really like her. She is an ND, but not an MD.

Where's the Swan Clinic?

Does Dr. Aton specialize in pediatrics?

i came to ask the same question! this may be an odd q, but does she see you for regular old bumps and briuses/sickness? we had a naturopath ped in seatttle, and she did everything, then we got one here, and he just kinda... i dunno, makes sure baby is at one with nature, for lack of a better way of saying it... i need someone to take babe to if he's not feeling well in a physical sense, not just a metaphysical one.

i googled the doc mentioned:
sounds nice to me-- i'd love a doc the whole family can go to!

I have seen Dr. Aton for my pap smears and she checked me for some abdominal pain as well. My 5 year old had a nasty cold that lasted for three weeks and my 9mo had a rash that she diagnosed as a yeast infection that we cleared with tea tree oil. As an ND in Arizona she can prescribe things like antibiotics, which she says she will do if she really feels it is needed. She integrates nutition, lifestyle, and mind/body stuff as well. For your first visit she schedules an hour. I have been very impressed. She also used to deliver babies, but just retired in the fall from that.

I must share my experience with the natureopath you are speaking of.... I actually spoke to her at lenght on the phone (several years ago) prior to the birth of my baby. She really took the time to speak with me and answer questions regarding her practice and methods.... I thought she would be perfect and so scheduled a WBV with her and my infant.... well, she was nice and her office okay (I had been to the swan clinic before), but I must say that I was LESS then impressed with her personally.... maybe just a personality thing - not every Dr. if for every patient. But the thing that really made me never call her again was on our discussion regarding immunizations... I was choosing not to vax and looking for her professional opinion and support and she said "my husband was reading about the current wooping cough epidemic and so the only vax I would recommend is DPT" : Ummm... did you say your husband was reading about this???? Who is he???? and you will base vaxing my infant on that??????

I never went to see her again.... I just wanted to share this.... maybe some of you gals have had different vax experience with her....

Thanks for all the info! I have actually been to Dr. Aton once when my husband and I were sick and it just wouldn't go away. That was my only experience with her and she seemed pretty knowledgeable; she just didn't really stand out to us so we wanted to look around a bit more.

I'm actually going to see Dr. Grady tomorrow.... for me, but I am scoping for my little one.... we have a homeopath ped now (who is also an MD)... But I like the idea of us seeing the same Dr. and I'm more into naturopath than homeopath...

Felicitymom, thanks for the info and your experiences. We haven't vax'd either child, but also did not discuss it with her. Please do let us know about Dr. Grady. Who is the homeopath/MD you've seen?

Hey there.... went to see Dr. Grady... I thought she was great, we spent a good long time talking about things and she seemed very knowledgable in homeopathics, herbs and traditional med.... I'm totally satisfied with her as a Dr. and with the fee... it seemed very reasonable. And she has small children herself... always a plus in my book.
