I didn't know how to title this post.

Now to explain.

With our homeschool this year or children are going to take a "trip" around the world. We are going to base our learning on different areas. Each month we will focus on a different continent/area. They will get a sticker in their 'passport' at the end of the month.

I would love to exchange a letter with a child from the area that we are studying. Nothing huge. Just one letter on what it is like to be a kid in that area. In return my girls will send YOU a letter about what it is like to live in the U.S. and California. Perhaps a picture or a small token/toy.

For October we have Africa. Next is Australia and New Zealand.

I might change things around but for now we also have.....

Western Europe
Eastern Europe
Asia
Antarica
Mexico and South America
North America

Thanks

For a child to write a letter about what life in their country is like for them, and for you to learn what is Different about it there, the child would first have to have a good grasp of what life is like where you are, to point out the contrasts.

Otherwise, they might tell you about a day in their life, but it probably wouldn't look very "different" even if there are a lot of interesting details.

We live in Singapore. I don't know what my oldest could write in a letter about what her life is like, that would give you an image of Singapore. Except she actually Is in the position to contrast California with Singapore, and could do that for you if directly asked.

We are in W. Europe. I'm sure we could put something together. My DS isn't able to write a letter, but he could dictate some things to me and we could take some pictures of his favorite places, things to do over here, etc. It sounds fun! PM me if you are interested.

It would actually be great for my children to see that being a child in another country is actually very similar to being a kid in California.

Some of what we might include in our package to you....
info about famous local landmark/places like the San Diego Wild Animal park. Perhaps a picture of us at the Wild Animal Park or Zoo.
A shark tooth and a picture of us at Sea World.
Picture or postcard with the Hollywood sign
Sea Shell from the beach
a US quarter/dime/nickle/penny
a list of what my girls like/don't like about living here
description of popular games they like to play

Things like that.

I wonder if I cross posted in TAO with a "hay read my thrend in the homeschool form" I could cover more ground.

I just read a thrend that some are putting together a swap that is kind of like this but not specific to other countries.

Oh......perhaps this could turn into a swap. Would you all be interested in making up more than one of your packages? Like 10 people in the swap and you make up 10 packages? Or is that too big?
