hi all!

the last 2-2 1/2 days my 14 week old dd has been messing with her left ear. she has possibly been a little more fussy, although she has reflux so it's hard to tell what it's from. however, she has been nursing and sleeping fine, so i don't know if it is an ear infection or not.

I am planning to call the doc after their lunch time, but would like to avoid antibiotics if possible. What other things could I do for her? I've heard of getting chiro work done- not sure if I could get an appt last minute for her. FYI- she is BF.

ok, both kids are crying right now...thanks for any advice you can give.

I don't really have advice, except to say I just did a search bc I'm wondering if my 6 month old has an ear infection. I've read many places that pulling at the ear is VERY common for babies. google dr. green + ear infections. my baby has pulled at his ears for months, but had no infection. right now though he has had congestion/runny nose, green stool and up most the night in much discomfort. he used to sleep good and only wake to eat. I'm thinking of putting acouple drops of diluted Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE) in his ear to kill the bad stuff. I know it has helped me get rid of good luck and hope u'r babies just fine.

I got a hold of garlic/mullein flower oil. It did the trick for DS. Warm it up before putting it in the ear (stick it in your bra for 15 minutes). Have child lay on side of non-affected ear and put a few drops in. Rub the area around the ear and try to have him/her lay still for several minutes. Be ready with a tissue when the sit up as it usually dribbles out. Repeat again as needed.

Great! Thanks for the ideas. We went ahead to the doc and she said her ears look great. So who knows???? Maybe referred teething pain, maybe tiredness........

But I am keeping these ideas in mind for when she DOES have one...I actually have GSE on hand from when I had thrush.

SO glad there's no infection! I have TONS of the GSE on hand too from fighting thrush for months. It's awesome stuff...we use it for everything now. My husband even swears by it and has his friends using it too! glad baby is healthy and well.
