I'm fighting the bulge in a big, fat way! February might be a little early for us to TTC, though. I have quite a few pounds to lose. 50, in an ideal world. How fast can I lose 50 pounds?? 6 months?? That's not too bad. Something to focus on through the long winter months. We are mostly vegetarian here and eat quite healthfully overall. And I've just started walking about 45 mins to an hour every evening with the dog (some of it I'm running to try and keep up with him!). That's got to help, right? I really think the biggest hurdle for me will be developing a healthy sleep pattern. I'm a bit of an insomniac and I think that makes it more difficult to lose weight. Speaking of which.....it's almost midnight! :yawning: Good night!

hi all-
I am also trying to lose weight, more actually. I lost 30 with WW and have kept it off but have "stalled out" since April. I am 're-committed' and starting again with the Wendie Plan - which really worked well for me for the last 6 pounds. It is like WW but modified and free. The online site to explain it is:
http://groups.msn.com/POINTingMyWayt...endieplan.msnw

not for everyone but I thought I would share it.

I just got some workout tapes so that is where I am starting with the exercise. ummmmm... I have 20 more to lose

Good luck to us all! Will check in soon-

We're planning to TTC in April. I'd like to lose 20-30 lbs. before that.

I'm starting Power 90 tomorrow (November 1st) and I WILL NOT quit. I have to get this taken care of before I start.

I can handle possibly weighing as much as I do now toward the end, but I cannot handle the thought of weighing 20 lbs. more than I do now.

It's now or never!

Ah, yes! This is my goal presently. DH and I are beginning to see the light at the end of a many-years-long tunnel. We've been waiting to TTC until he is done school, and he'll hopefully be done this summer. Overall, I have more than 100 pounds to lose. I'm down about 60, so I still have much more to go, but my health has improved already (I have weight-induced hypertension).

Ideally, I'd like to get another 30 off by the summer, before TTC.

Good luck, everyone!

When we got referred to our RE he told me one of the 1st steps was for me to lose 10% of my weight. (I was 229.) He is very big on nutrition and health and fertility and has done research on it. I lost my 10% and then got pg on our 1st IUI and a cycle that the doc was pretty sure wouldn't work.

Good luck to all of you with your weight loss and ttc!!

Hi Ladies, Is anyone else afraid to get on the scales? I know I have gained weight since the summer when I was biking to and from work everyday....Am am lazy now and carpool/bus it to and fro work now.I am stuck in a rutt and really need to get out... I have a bunch of Halloween candy and cookies left.I have tried the Atkins diet and have way too many cravings and plus research that I have read that it is bad to do the Atkins if you are wanting to get pregnant. Then I tried a veggie low carb version in the summer when I went of meat for a while, that didn't work.I just bought a whole bunch of easy to prepare sidedishes which aren't that healthy.I buy veggies and they just go bad...It's just me.....In the new yr I will be ttc with DI IUI...It should be easier to loose weight when you live by yourself but there is really no accountability to anyone.Really I need to mentally phych myself into really being commited to eating healthy and loosing weight.... I need to get there... I already gave up coffee which was a hudge hurdle for me.I geuss I just have to think do I want this extra weight and this food more than I want a baby???Okay I think I am a little closer to getting "there" when I first started writting this.Just needed to vent/process a bit. Good luck to you all.Hope I can get on the scale eventually!!

I hear you loud and clear, Futuremommy! I think you've hit the nail on the head.

I've posed this question to myself so many times in the past few months. I was doing so well for months upon end and, thankfully, have been able to keep off what I've lost so far. But I still have a long way to go. (I did it on Weight Watchers Core program, BTW.)

It just dawned on me that my DH and I will start trying in about 9 months -- ha! 9 months! The same time it takes (more or less) for a baby to gestate. How fitting!

So, that made me start thinking, Well, just eat as if you are pregnant. Would you eat half the crap you do if you already were? No. Would you *forget* to take your daily vitamins? No way! I'd never want to do anything that wouldn't be healthy for the child growing within me.

So, I think that's how I need to look at this.

Wednesday weigh in would work for me, as I have my WW meeting on Tuesday night and will likely report that weight. However, any chance we can start next week? I also need to get out of this Halloween candy funk and a few days away from it will steel my courage with regard to getting on the scale.

What does everyone think?

Best,
Wednesday night weigh in's would work for me. It would get me motivated to get back to pilates on that night too. Have had three weeks in a row off, is hard to get back. I still haven't got the nerve to jump on the scale yet. And I am making a high fat lunch too. I have almost finished my halloween candy off. I am trying to avoid the winter blues.. with the time change and lack of sun hours and nasty westcoast bc weather! Sorry I didn't check the date to see which week you wanted to start. What does everyone else think?GOOD LUCK ALL
Me Too!
I'm also looking to lose some weight before TTC.
Not that I'm incredibly ambitious, but trying to curb the carbs and walking more is my goal.
I am hoping to lose 30-40lbs prior to conception, but if it's more, then weehaw!
I'm looking into the GI diet at the moment - any luck for this with any of the ladies?
I don't want to go into the pregnancy with all this extra weight, but I am also not willing to wait anylonger (at 34) to start a family.
Good luck to all! And keep updating!!

It's now or never. If you want to be motivated. You have to know where you're starting. Plus, the horror of seeing the actual number can be a motivator too!

I struggled with this before I lost a HUGE amount of weight a couple of years ago (95 lbs. to be exact - yeah, I've gained some back). You have to remind yourself that the food isn't going anywhere. It'll ALWAYS be there if you want it down the road.

The most important thing to do if you live alone is DON'T BUY the food. If the junk isn't around, you can't eat it! I kept a scant amount of food at home while I was losing and it helped because I was too lazy to run out and get something when I had a craving.

Okay, here's my update. I've lost 3 lbs. now (since last week). I'm gonna kick things up a notch this week and see how things go.

Hi gals checking in....

I've lost 6 lbs so far (I thnk I've been "trying" for 3 weeks) and that leaves me a solid 10 to go before the babymaking can begin

If anyone is looking for a great read, try "Hold It! You're Exercising Wrong!" -- it got me off the hook with kickboxing and running, and back to basics with power walking ,bike riding and the elliptical trainer...something about bodytype, heart rates and the like.....

Looking forward to jumping on the scale tonight

Okay I just did it! That is weighed my self for the first time in well two months.I thought it would be higher than it actually was, still way too high though! I can't belive I actually fell asleep and missed my pilates class again! : So I guess I will try some yoga or something from one of my many selections of workout DVD's that gather dust on the shelf. I am still not at a place where I am totally dieting, definetly need to cut back on sugary carbs and drink more water this week! I think next work week I will start incorperating yummy salads into my lunches!

How are things going ladies?

I haven't been able to step things up as I planned this week. The next 3-4 days will be odd for me too as I'll be out of town. But, I'm determined to crank it up.

We have to pay special attention to our plan next week. Turkey is not fundamentally bad for people trying to lose weight (it's actually pretty good), but gravy, pie, etc. is not good. Let's exercise portion control to get us through!

The food is good and it's once a year. It'll be there next year, and the year after that. We don't have to stuff to have a nice Thanksgiving.

Who's with me?
