According to the nutritionalist we saw today my BM is now lower calorie b/c it's been 18 months. She seems to think I should give DS cows milk. I pointed out that he was gaining weight much more rapidly before we gave other foods.<br><br>
They all seem to be annoyed that I don't believe DS's weight is a problem.

You should have asked the nutritionist if the dairy cow's milk decreases in calories after they have been producing milk for 18 months<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol">

Actually, here is just one link that contradicts that and indicates that the fat content increases in mothers who nurse for a longer period of time:<br><br><a href="http://www.medicineonline.com/news/10/6108/Fat-Content-of-Breast-Milk-Increases-with-Time.html" target="_blank">http://www.medicineonline.com/news/1...with-Time.html</a><br><br>
It's a small sample size but a pretty significant difference nonetheless.<br><br>
And I love ryan's mom's response! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol">

Here's a link to the study published in Pediatrics that was referenced in the article.<br><br><a href="http://pediatrics.aappublications.org/cgi/content/full/116/3/e432?maxtoshow=&HITS=10&hits=10&RESULTFORMAT=1&andorexacttitle=and&andorexacttitleabs=and&fulltext=breastmilk&andorexactfulltext=and&searchid=1&FIRSTINDEX=0&sortspec=relevance&fdate=//&tdate=//&resourcetype=HWCIT" target="_blank">http://pediatrics.aappublications.or...urcetype=HWCIT</a><br><br>
That's the full text, not just the abstract. It's a bit dry, but otherwise good reading.<br><br>

Send her the article. She shouldn't be giving out false information, whether you need to deal with her again or not.
