This is my first post, but I've enjoyed reading along - I've been charting waking temps for two months now since starting TTC #2 and they've been really low - under 97 before the shift and now just over 97.5 Is this strange?

sbbmom - My temps are that low, but my doc assures me that's not the cause of my infertility. The two things that could cause that that may affect fertility are thyroid and progesterone

If it takes you a while to get pregnant, you might have those tests done first to rule anything out. People DO get pregnant with temps that low

Actually your basal temp is lower than your reg body temp. PP is right that thyroid or progesterone deficiencies will cause lower than avg body temps also. My BBT is right around 96.0. My guess is that yours is very normal.

Mine are always around 96.7 to 96.9, and I see the shift at about 97.4-97.6. Dr has assured me that is normal for some women and we did not have any problems conceiving our two children.

Try searching for low temps on MDC. I remember reading one about two months ago that talked about this same thing. The poster actually went to dr for it, they ran tests and everything came back ok.

Good luck!
