I have a one word answer for you: chiropractor. I saw one Friday and I swear it turned the pain meter back at least six weeks (at which point I was still fairly comfortable). Otherwise I feel exactly like you described.
Chiropractor. Gotcha. I need to get me one of those. I'm really sore, too. The hips and the pubic pressure are enough to drive a poor woman batty.
Yeah...my hips feel like they're breaking or something. Very, very painful. Especially if I've been laying on the couch for a while...

Yesterday, I had really bad pain in front, on my pubic bone and it felt like it was coming apart, yeouch...
I totally agree about seeing the chiro.......... in the meantime my masseuse told me that when I get some lower back and hip pain to lie on my back and have dh gently pull on my legs at a 45 deg angle.
Have I mentioned I LOVE my chiro? back and hip pain are NOT problems for me right now. This is sooooo much better than my last pg.
Thanks Mamas...anyone know a free chiropractor??? We can't afford it and our HMO doesn't cover it - I just checked...

I guess I need to schedule an appt with a chiro ... I have the "My hips are breaking" thing going on. Mostly my left hip--when I've been standing for a while (like at work) I develop a limp because I cannot put my full weight on that hip. Then when I get home and lie down, and try to get up again, BOTH hips feel like they're about to bust or something! Just from moving my legs, not even putting weight on them!

Here's a thought.... do you have a chiropractic or massage school near you? The NE school of massage is near me, and they are always looking for volunteers for the students to work on. Recently they were looking for pregnant women specifically. Free massage = good.

CHIRO!!!!
:

I have had hip/lower back/sciatic pain for 5 years and I JUST went to a chiro 2.5 weeks ago and now I'm thinking, why the heck did I wait so long??!!

It turns out that my pelvis is seriously tilted/twisted from years of issues and 10 weeks of bedrest with #2. I have been seeing him 2 times a week and now once a week. I'll keep going forever and ever...I can't get over the difference!!

One tip he did say, use ice...not heat. Ice will reduce any inflamation you might have, heart will make it worse, even if it leaves you temporarily feeling better. And don't be a symptom icer....ice a few times a day even when its not hurting, this will reduce the inflamation and thus reduce the amount of "hurting times".

Good luck!

Guess I'll be calling my chiropractor tomorrow. (They're closed today...public holiday here)
I was nearly in tears last night. I could NOT find a comfortable position to sleep in & was awake almost all night. Even after taking 2 Tylenol I still feel like my hips were breaking.

Does your insurance have a discount plan for out of network providers? Also, call them, they might cover things that are not normally covered if it is deemed medically necessary. My health insurance will cover acupuncture if I can prove it is medically necessary...which it is since it's the only thing that's brought relief from eczema in the three years I've suffered from it while dermatologists and my GP can't do anything for it.

I assume you have some kind of co-pay even after the insurance pays their part. I sat down and ran the numbers - an epidural is expensive, as are other interventions and such. I had pain like this with ds, and have read a lot online about how this pain is a result of your body not being aligned and thus you end up with a difficult delivery which may require interventions which cost money. So I didn't go until this week, but boy, if you knew how much better I feel, you would totally understand why I think my labor will be so much easier than with ds if I get adjusted. Adjustments are only $35 where I live, and my chiropractor says maintenance care for pregnant women is to get adjusted once a month until the last few weeks of the pregnancy. I wish I'd gone sooner, knowing that. Seriously...do a little more research - you may find out that you'll come out ahead even if you have to pay for the care out of pocket.

I'm also going to add a big yay for exercise! I too have been having ouchy hip pain, but I think exercising (walking, swimming or water aerobics, and yoga) help me a lot. It's also really hard for me to want to exercise when things hurt, but they hurt less after exercise, and I'm a big believer in exercise making labor go easier!
I swear there is a 2 inch gap between my pubic bones, half the time they feel like I am going to split in half, and the other half it is grinding together
My MW metioned a pregnancy girdle but she is on Vacation and I can't ask her right now.
