Because we're considering getting another dog, I've been thinking alot about ours and any concerns we have about our ONE.

We got her when she was 10 months old. We did a twice a week, personal training class with her, one on one. It was 6 weeks long. We all did the class with her, even my girls. But now, 6 years later (she'll be 7 in Aug) Chloe listens to everything I say to her. She pays attention to my body language and stays close by me, unless I tell her she can go play.
But...

If my hubby takes her out she listens to him *most* of the time. If my dad takes her out, she pretends she's deaf. He'll stand outside and call her till he's blue in the face, but I'll walk to the door and just say her name and she'll come running.

My hubby and I both bathe her. Everyone takes her for walks. The girls feed her most of the time. We all love her and pet her and groom her. But clearly, I'm her favorite which I have no problems with, but it bugs everyone else.

Are all dogs like this? Do they all pick a favorite?

my dogs are the same way. Doesnt matter what they are doing , if I walk into the room it is all about me. They know I am the disiplinarian . They know im top dog. Dh not so much. funny story, Dusty (2) was barking out the window, I walked up to her said Dusty quiet. Thank you. (which does work by the way thank you for that who ever suggested it) well it was the cat across the street, IN OUR YARD, she hates this cat. Well I said it a bit firmer and got her off the couch. well our puppy who LOVES to stand at attention , kinda snipped and lunged at her not to bite her but as if to say, "Hey YOU , mom is talking pay attention" right after she did it, she went back to attention. Sometimes I call her my little soldier.

So in essense they know im boss, but when it comes to the kids, Dusty loves our son, and Daisy loves our youngest dd.

Our dogs obey me, Honour, Meri, Tabitha, and Doug, in that order. Most mornings he has to come get one of the kids to get Clue inside because she doesn't want to come. (This is totally unacceptable, but difficult to address because as soon as I go down there to help him know how to discipline her, she sees me and bolts inside for her kennel).

My dogs also know the rules--for example, any dog that sees another dog going near Zuzu (the baby) will fly across the room roaring and bite the other dog's face and push it away. The baby buffer zone (it's about a foot wide in front and a few inches in back) is a BIG deal. Ginny is the absolute enforcer--she will come from wherever she is in the house to sleep a foot away from the baby and warn all the others away. But if a strange dog comes in the house, they all band together and will keep it strictly off the couch and away from the Zuzu. It's very interesting to watch, especially since I am more used to dogs that don't think quite as much as these do. The Danes were happy to lick babies but had a difficult time understanding to be careful. These guys have it internalized..

I love your kids' names so much! I have to say, especially the baby's but they're all great. Tabitha was on my short list for every one of my (5) babies.

I can't believe people have anything negative to say about it!
