Magnolia Faith was born 19 January(her EDD) at 3:33 PM. She weighed 7lbs 7oz and was 21 inches long. Labor began the morning of the 18th and progressed to active labor at around 3 AM the 19th. After a relatively smooth dilation and some productive pushing, babe's heart rate, my heart rate, and my temp skyrocketed. A vaccum extraction was attempted but very painful and unsuccessful. During the very emergent c-section, it was disocvered that my amniotic fluid, uterus, and bladder were all infected. It was the severely swollen bladder that made a vaginal delivery impossible, as it was the size of a 22 week uterus! We spent three days in the hospital.

Thankfully, babe and I are AWESOME :D!

Breastfeeding is going well,, as is co-sleeping and baby-wearing.

Pushing WAS excruciating...one of the indicators that something was off. MW thought it was because babe was posterior. My first few post-op pees weren't all that nice feeling, either.

Babymoon is blissful. DH and DS are at the park and Maggie is napping.

No one is 100% sure what caused the infections, but the best guess is that I developed a small tear in my amniotic sac from the car accident, some nasty bacteria crawled in, and it healed over. The bladder infection most like came from the same bacteria. So something funky was living in/near my vagina and it crawled into every crevice it could, incubated, and made life a tad complicated for awhile. Taking massive amounts of cranberry and probiotics to get my body functioning properly!
