I think I recall Roar saying something about MSB before/after something, that the quality had changed in some way.

Is it Joanna Cole stuff I should or should not be looking for?

DS is just wild about MSB and I feel like spoiling him . We've been borrowing what they have available from the library, but he's just insatiable, particularly for the CD Roms.

We aren't TV people so we don't have any experience with that. I may have said I hated reading the books but fortunately my son didn't care for them either.

We have lots of MSB. It does seem like the ones "based on" Joanna Cole's stories are of lesser quality, whereas the ones with her listed as author seem better. Regardless, they are all fun here; the videos too so you get the science songs.

First came the books written by Joanna Cole and illustrated by Bruce Degen. They're good. Then came a TV show based on the books, and more books based on the TV show. They're OK. We have some of both, and DD likes them all.

Ah...we have a few of the books through Scholastic and I don't care for them. I'll have to look at the author. Perhaps I need to go to the book store and flip through to see if any are worth it. He's a maniac for the CD-roms and videos from the library and I keep seeing lots of books on ebay for cheap. Maybe I'll invest in more Usborne instead.

Thanks, Roar.

Supervee and Daffodil, thanks for your replies and clarifying the order of things. On ebay they point out which are Joanna Cole, and there are a bunch of homeschool kits I may look into.

My 4yo loves them & has learned a ton from the books - as have I. I admit they're a bit tedious & long the fifth or the tenth or the hundredth time through, but if it excites my kid, that's good enough for me.
