That is actually the SECOND package sent to Alaska that was lost. With the first one I was told that even priority mail can take up to 6 weeks to get to Alaska, well it has been probably close to 6 months
Although I have only had I think 3 lost packages, it seems as though orders are taking longer and longer to get to their destination through the p.o. I have sent packages on the same day, one to the East coast and one in my state, both priority. The east coast one arrive much quicker than the in-state one which should have been there over night but took roughly 9 days.
When mailing my packages from home, they always have delivery confirmation on them, when mailing from the p.o. they don't always, basically I forget to ask.
Also, something that the customers need to keep in mind is a new issue with delivery confirmation. The p.o. is NO longer scanning delivery confirmation when it is picked up from a meter mailed place. Which means that all of us who use stamps.com, paypal, endica, and so on don't have the delivery confirm scanned until it reaches your house. I can mail a package and it will show as "the p.o. has been notified of a package being electronically shipped ...." It does not show the pick up date like it used to. When it is scanned in either at your p.o. or your home it will show as being delivered to that place, most but not all of the time.
So when a wahm provides you with the delivery confirm number and it does not show as scanned in, this does not mean it was not picked up, it only shows another place the p.o. has cut back.
I do believe thereare a small handful of wahms who don't ship when they claim to, some not at all, and because of those few bad apples it makes everyone question whether someone is telling the truth or not. The vast majority of wahms really do ship when they say they have. Packages really do get lost, and priority can take forever, global priority which is supposed to be 4-7 days can actually take up to 6 weeks, with stops on the wrong side of the world before it reaches its destination.
OK, my $.02 for today, I am not too happy with the p.o. lately, but the bottom line is it is cheaper to ship USPS than most other companies for small packages, and most customers want the cheapest shipping possible.
