Hi All,
I do not post much, but am always lurking around...you all have such great ideas. My husband and I are currently being sued by my parents for grandparent visitation. We have already spent over 35, 000 on lawyer fees and our case is just going to go to trial the end of Sept. I am guessing the trial and appeal, as we have been told we will loose, will cost another 30,000. We have refinanced our house and paid off all our credit card debt and lawyer fees to date, and we have a small amount left. So, we are now trying to save for the upcoming expenses so we hopefully do not go into major credit card debt to pay for the rest of the legal fees....anyone have any other great frugal ideas for me? I am an RN and I work only per diem at this point. My husband and I really want me to be home with the kids, so although I could work more, we do not want to have to use daycare. He is going to do some overtime, which pays very well. I am still trying to scrape and save as much as possible. I am going to have a yard sale in a few weeks and we will bank all profits in our legal account. Sorry for rambling, but if anyone has any ideas I am open to anything!

Oh dear, what an difficult situation. My sympathies to you.

I don't know about any specific advice. Sounds like you guys have been making some good financial decisions if you have been able to pay off lawyer fees and keep out of credit card debt. You have a budget? I would make sure that you are tracking all of your money and cut back everywhere that you can.

You can treat this upcoming hurdle like many of us are treating our debt repayment. In my household, all non-essential spending (movies, dinners out, nice clothes and luxury goods) has been suspended until our debt is paid. I would suggest something similar, cut back where you can and save every dime since you may need it.

A yard sale is a great idea. I know people have made money doing an early morning paper route. I am starting a new job in a restaurant for extra cash.

Best of luck to you.

I like your ideas about cutting back on all extras and non-essentials. I have been trying to explain the whole idea of a budget to the kids too, as they sometimes put pressure on me to buy them things. It might be challenging too with school starting soon and trying to get my dtr clothed etc....At least school supplies are a bargain right now, I will stock up for the whole year!

I hope we win our case too....according to my tarot card reading...:p it will be a very rough road, but we will win in the end. We have looked into suing them back and there are no loopholes...ugh.
