The 3yo wants to make a bird feeder or bird house. Given the age, I'm thinking something easy that she can do a lot of herself (with assistance). Ideas? Directions? Materials?

Thanks,
Family Fun magazine just had one that was basically a big plastic soda bottle with two wooden spoons speared through at a strategic angle. Looked pretty easy to do. It might be on their website.

There are a bunch of ideas for bird feeders/nesting places here http://animal.discovery.com/fansites.../projects.html

Lots of ideas for other outdoor habitats too!

My girls have had a lot of fun growing and then decorating gourds for birdhouses.
I'm sure you can just buy them instead of growing them.

If you go to the craft store, there will be kits that are SUPER easy to put together. They are wooden and come with paints and stencils, so the kids have a blast decorating them first. We have bought many of these and used them as gifts for relatives, usually paying around $7.99.
