I want to make my daughter a fishing game.I have a dowel rod and eye hooks but I'm trying to decide if I could make some sort of "reel" or if I should just attach a string to the end of the dowel.Any ideas on how to make a reel?

I found a wooden spool shape at the craft store. I found that making a reel was rather a pain. You'll need to attach a screw or something to make the handle on the reel to make it spin, and eye hooks up the legth of the rod to feed and guide the string. The string would want to get stuck all the time.
It's a wonderful idea, but I suggest you save yourself the effort, and don't add a reel.
