Heres the pattern that I got off the net...http://www.knitting-crochet.com/girves.html there is no picture, but I thought the pattern would be easy enough to follow (Im a beginner) Ive gotten to the partwhere you start making the arm holes, and Im wondering what the heck:it says to bind off first 6 stitches in next six rows, which I did, and then it says to bind off the entire next row. Im no expert knitter, but that really wouldnt work, in how Im thinking of it anyways. Should I just keep on knitting about 15 more rows to complete the back peice, or should I just get a new pattern all together? Is there a good vest pattern I could buy out there? Am I just reading the directions wrong?

It sound like when you are bo the first 6 stitches you are shaping for the arm holes. And when you bo all stitches you are at the top of the vest. When you finish the front part, it looks like you will be joining them with a ribbing boarder to help add heighth to the back. Does that make sense? I'm no expert by any means, just my thought....

I looked at the pattern- the binding off you are talking about is not armhole shaping, it's the slope of the top of the shoulder seams... this vest has no armhole shaping- the armholes are just slits that are not sewn up along the edges. I think when you pick up the armhole stitches and knit on the little ribbing border- the armholes actually would protrude a little from the trunk- rather than being shaped (cut) inward.
