I'm going to be making two ring bearers' pillows for my SIL's wedding and I'm just seeking any advice or tips from BTDT sewers.

Right now I'm planning on your basic smallish square pillow with lace trim and the faux rings sewn on top, with a small pocket on the underside through which the boy can put his hand to prevent drops.

Any other ideas out there? Am I missing something that would make the pillows special?

I made one for my friend's semi-Chinese wedding. She sent me this red satin brocade with dragons on it. I used that on the top, with a contrasting satin on the bottom. Then I put a gold satin rope trim around the edges and gold tassels on each corner. I created an indent in the pillow with a satin-covered button on the underside, connecting through to bright ribbons on the top side to tie the rings to.

It was cool. And my friend loved it. My point is, it doesn't have to be a traditional-looking white lacy pillow. It's such a small thing, so you can be really creative. What are her colors and theme for the wedding? You can use that as a starting point.

I sewed my ring bearer pillow for my wedding. I made it out of an old shirt I had that was silver satin. I sewed seed beads to the top (if you do this, make sure they're REALLY on there!), then I sewed the pillow together, and stuffed it, and then I sewed a lilac ribbon onto the top, so it went all the way through, and sort of puckered it. YKWIM? And threaded the (fake- our rb was only 2) rings onto it, and tied them into a bow. Then we had a pillow corsage in our wedding colors... it was really pretty. I should find a picture.

I did a strap to the underside and embroderied "Carried by Daniel S***" onto the strap. It had ribbons and such. It was my favorite thing in the wedding. Unfortunately one of the rings fell off. The por guy just about fell apart. he felt so bad. but the grooms men saved the day :LOL so if you are going to have your real rings on it I highly recommend making the indent in the center.

I made mine with a colored satin inside pillow and found a delicate linen napkin (a beautiful hankerchief would work very well).

I made the satin pillow a little bigger than the napkin could hold and wrapped the napkin around it attaching the four ends in the middle. The colored pillow peeked out a bit. It was quite pretty. Does this make sense?

I dressed it up a bit more with a couple of thin ribbons the color of the satin.
