I have a friend who's 50. He's been feeling tired and down lately. He went to the doctor, who told him his testosterone levels are low and he should start HRT. He's been taking a male vitamin supplement, but his urologist told him it was like "pissing into the ocean" compared to the HRT. Given his age and symptoms, it seems like he's going through male menopause.

Does anyone have any information about this issue? In most situations, I am very opposed to HRT because menopause is not an abnormal situation or a problem that needs to be treated. It's just doing what it's supposed to do when fertility ends. Puberty's not much fun either, but they don't hand out hormone suppressing medications to "treat" the "excess" male/female hormones.
