I am interested in mama cloth or other alternatives (Diva cup, etc). I have NO CLUE where to begin or to start.

What brands are everyones favorites (include links)???

Who has the best prices (we don't have a lot of $$ to spend right now)????

TIA!

I bought my first off of ebay. New of course! Check them out I don't really remember the name of the wahm though but I am satisfied. They are much more comfortable. I even got my sister to try on some when she ran out and had no pads to use. She liked them but wasn't ready to convert. Once you do I don't think you'll go back. Just look for cloth pads. I know the mamas here though hav esome favorites. I only have a handful myself and need more.
I really, really want to try a keeper but after this last vaginal birth I am scared to stick ANYTHING in there.(yep, anything).

When I first decided to switch to cloth, I had no clue what to get either. The name brand pads seemed so $$$. So I first went to ebay and bought a set of WAHM pads. It included panty liners and holder type of pads (you have to fold up the absorbant insides and stuff them inside a holder). At first I thought they were the neatest thing. So then I bought a few other WAHM pads from ebay. A new set was and AIO (all in one) type of pad where i didn't have to fold and stuff. The set came with 2 light, 2 medium, and 2 heavy flow pads. I thought that was even better. And I relized I hated folding those inserts! And after they were washed they never quite fit like they originally did. And they were SO BULKY!!! And the panty liners were only 5 or 6 inches long, and I found out I needed something longer to be more comfortable.

Another problem I found is that that none of these pads had any type of waterproof layer. And on heavy days I would sometimes soak through to my underwear. Even though only one spot of my pad was dirty it went through all 8 layers of flannel. So I didn't like that.

Well I finally decided to spent the money on some Lunapads. And I LOOVE THEM, LOVE THEM, LOVE THEM!! They are very absorbent, and so much trimmer than my other pads. I can't feel them, and they stay in place. Also I only have to change the insert, instead of the whole pad. Another great thing is that they have a water resistant layer so I haven't had any leaks!!! They are great! I also LOVE their mini pads.

So now I am going to get rid of all my other pads and get more inserts for my Lunapads. They really aren't that expsensive to use since you only need 3 or 4 maxi pads and then inserts.

Good luck with your search!

Oh, keeper cups, divacups. I could add this to my above post, but oh well...

I had a keeper once. It is now living in the sewer
. Long story....involves me wearing my keeper during my miscarriage and sitting on the toliet, the force of the miscarriage made my keeper fall out with out me realizing it. I was so startled by everything I didn't realize that my precious keeper was in the toliet....until I flushed.....and there went my keeper...

I miss it....

Anyhoo....yes I had a keeper and I loved it dearly. I thought it was wonderful. I had to completely trim the "tail" off of it because it sat so low it kinda pinched. So off with the tail and then it was fine. It was nice not to have to mess with pads (this was before I had my Lunapads).

The Keeper was so easy to take care of. And I liked that I didn't have to worry about checking it all the time. (you can leave them in for 12 hours). On my heaviest days I would only have to empty it 3 times a day, unlike going through 10 pads a day. So it was a lot easier I thought. Then after my period was over I just had to wash it with soap and hot water and put it in its case and back in the drawer and I was done!

So....love my Lunapads, Loved my Keeper. Next week I have a Divacup coming and I will be glad to have that again. I am also going to give Sea Sponges a try.

I hope some of that helps!!

One more thing...sorry it is late and hubby in bed, so I have no one to talk to.

I did buy a set of pads from a WAHM that did have a water resistant layer, BUT...they didn't have any snaps to fasten around my underwear. They stay in place pretty well, but sometimes I forget that I am wearing them and when I got to sit on the toliet I pull my pants down and if I am not paying attention, the pad will fall in the toliet. Had that happen while I was out of the house one day....not a fun experience.

So anyhoo....I love the snaps on the Lunapads because there are 3 of them. Other pads I have, have come unsnapped before and almost took a dive into the ol potty.....but never the Lunapads..

oh boy...I really need to go to bed!!!

AAARRRGGHH! I think I have those same pads! :LOL

I too have had to fish them out of the toilet. Other than that factor, they work great.

I have tried Lunapads & they were not very comfortable after washing ---so I tried Glad rags -not bad -wear well -pretty soft-
so then I got a variety pack from Pandoras pads.

I LOVE THEM!!!!

I found them to be so soft -even after several -(4 -5 cycles have gone by)washings.
www.pandoraspads.com

about $37 for 4 pads in different sizes.
