Mama cloth question

I use a Diva cup for my AF needs. My question is in regards to post partum bleeding. What would you recommend? I have been so spoiled not having to buy monthly products that I had given no consideration to needing something before we TTC again.

some nice big soft flannel overnight pads... soft cotton flannel will last longer and dry better than AIOs with poly fibers. i am not a fan of hemp mama pads as well, though others seem to love them-- i find them stifer and more protrusive than cotton. poly fibers (microfleece, etc) wick away the moisture well, but aren't quite as breathable. i use these when i'm not going to be able to change for awhile. (i often can't at my job)

glad rags makes some, but they might not be big enough. I like the organic lunapads also. My favorite overnight pads, though, are just simply homemade flannel ones.

i would buy some extra liners in the overnight size also just to stuff in your underwear when you aren't having a really heavy flow-- it's much easier to just keep changing them often to stay dry. i do this for the most part when i'm home, i don't use any holder, i just stick the liner in my underwear and keep checking on it often. if i'm going out or sleeping/resting then i'll use the liner and holder together.

THank you looks like I have a lot of research to do.
I used cloth postpartum, and these were my favorite pads: Pandora, TLC all-in-ones, and Rhythm & Blues. All are very absorbent, soft, and well-made.

Diaperware sells many different brands of pads, so that's a good place to buy an assortment. I used postpartum as an excuse to buy a whole bunch of pads and compare the different brands--it was something to think about during those days when I did nothing but nurse!

If someone else will be doing your laundry postpartum, I recommend getting some Oxi-Clean to presoak your pads and a zippered nylon mesh bag to keep them together in the wash--these things reduce the yuck factor.

I agree too. I think that makes sense.
Glad you liked the advice!
I actually got my mother-out-law to buy some cloth pantiliners after she saw my cute pads--it was not a subject we would've discussed otherwise.

Just wanted to add: There are several brands of pads with a synthetic microfleece surface that's supposed to feel drier. When I was buying pads and diapers, I decided not to get any microfleece because I was concerned that putting tiny synthetic fibers right next to one's genitals (especially when raw from giving birth) might not be such a healthy idea, and when I tried to research it I could find no evidence that anyone has EVER studied whether it's safe! Of course that doesn't mean it's NOT safe...but humanity has centuries of experience with cotton and hemp underwear, so those materials are known to be safe. Something to consider, anyway.
