Going over a bridge in my car is my obsession. I'm fairly psychotic on the topic, actually.

When I have both girls and I'm alone, I have one plan. Both girls, and an adult passenger, there's plan 'B'... and so on...

This woman was surely operating under adrenaline! Amazing.

But I wonder why she got out of the car without the baby? Still shock?

Good reason to call a taxi if you're in labor instead of driving yourself. Glad she's ok and the baby's ok and her family is being good about it.

Ugh, yes! I most sincerely hope that no one winds up with a pp infection from what I imagine to be nasty water! I can just picture the media spin.

Of course, if they've been to the hospital (transported after the birth), there's another risk factor for icky infection that wouldn't be an issue if they were at home in normal germ settings.

I wonder if the poor mom had the sense to nurse her baby.

I was completely horrified when I read " the police offier at the scene cut the cord"...with what? his swiss army knife???WTF that is how SO many babies die of tetanus in the developing world. sheesh, it would not have killed them to wrap the placenta up and take the whole sheebang.

Agreed. In an Unplanned for UC, ALL first Aid manuals say "Leave the Cord Alone!!!!"

Now planned UC, you'd have the proper tools on hand *and cleaned* to cut the cord if that is how you choose to do things. Some people want to lotus, that's cool too.
