Mama looking for AP Playgroups (Burbank)...

805 Views 21 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  Amoreena
Does anyone know of any AP playgroups around the Burbank/Glendale area. Gymboree is not our cup of tea- we don't seem to "fit" in with the rest of the Moms there.

HELP! :LOL

Hello!

I live in Glendale and still TTC#1, so not quite able to help directly... but I belong to Holistic Moms Network and they meet once a month in Pasadena. They draw from quite a wide area and the lady running it has started a playgroup for like-minded moms. You could find them at www.holisticmoms.org and click around till you find Pasadena. I'll bet you might also find Moms there in your neighborhood and you could start your own. And then, I could join you all when we have our first baby!

warmly,
Diane
I am in Burbank and would like to find or help start a local group.

Thanks for the suggestion, Amoreena! I just sent off an email to the moderator..
You know Aaudrey's Mom - if you don't get enough responses to your posting here, you might also want to join holistic moms and start a second playgroup through that chapter. It could be a good way to find other like-minded Moms

The HMN sounds intriguing ... have been taking a look at the LA chapter website and links ... might consider joining. Thanks for posting about that, dianewest! I think I *might* have heard of it before, somewhere, perhaps MDC, perhaps elsewhere, not sure...but thanks for reminding me

Great idea!
Thanks! And good luck TTC #1. How long have you been trying for?

Well, the first part is convincing my husband.... and I've been trying to do that since we got married in October 2040

I seemed to have managed that finally - so I think things may begin for real next cycle or two

we live in Van Nuys/ VAlley Glen but I just wanted to say hi. I know how it feels to feel on the fringe. Do you go to LaLecheLeague meetings? They're only once a mo., but you may meet others there who'd be interested. good luck!

They are super AP friendly and run a ton of classes. Don't know your baby's age, but I strongly recommend the Mother's Gathering groups (0-4 mos., 4-8 mos., 8-12, and 12+ and I know they are starting toddler groups in the Fall) and we LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Kindermusik. We started at 18 mos. w/ DS1 and are still going strong at 3 1/2 years and have made many friends from our class.

Right now they're expanding the store and adding a second classroom, so there'll be a ton more stuff available there in the fall. LLL meets there 1st Mon of every month, too, so that's another good resource.

I'm in Reseda too and have had good luck with the Yahoo AP Socal group.

PM me if you want to talk or connect about any of this. I'm just 4 days post-partum, but clearly spending a lot of time online right now! :LOL

Oh, and come join the LAMamas board!

Hey Melina! How's it going???

Are you in SoCalAP too??? I'm in that group and haven't seen you there. There's also SoCalAPFamilies, but I know you're not in there
...but there are some Burbank mamas there!

I second the LAMamas thread. I always find it interesting how many "views" there are compared to posts, though!

Hi there! I'm actually NOT in APSoCal anymore. Between work, kids, my co-housing group and other volunteer activities, I have very little time for online so I make MDC it! But I did meet some great people through that group and several have become great friends.

I have always wondered why the MDC LA Mamas thread isn't more active. My theory is that getting around LA is so difficult that we're just too geographically fractured. As for me, almost all of my posting is now Life w/ a Babe and was in my due date group for the past 9 mos!

Whew - Life w/ a Babe. Whoa. Having two is a TRIP. It's HARD to be this sleep deprived!

hi !
I am not too far from burbank. I am In the Sherman oaks area.
we could have a big meet up. I BET there is a huge L.A. mom lurking population...
I have heard a quite a few references to the area nad I know they are out there :p
Yes, this city is so fractured into many cities. I consider going "over the hill" going onto another side of the world. The traffic is just so awful.
How about next Thursday (8/25) in the AM at Lake Balboa Park (Sepulveda Dam Basin area, off the 101).

Anyone interested?
I am but that day doesn't work for me. My dd has a important appointment concerning chelating.
I am game for another day. let's try to scout out other LA mommas.

Hello!

I will be in Burbank when school starts...

I bought my first Mothering Magazine at Full'O'Life 2507 Magnolia Boulevard in 1976, and I am a graduate of Burbank High!

Burbank Adult School on Maple Street has a Mommy'N'Me program, Mon-Sat, that I attended with my older three children.

I enjoyed it, as the mothers did lots of things together outside the program.

PM me if you want.
