dd usually calls Dh by his first name. I'm always a form of momma. dd did ask grandma why she calls grampa an owl (Al). She was 3.5yrs at the time. I feel it's important for dc to be able to state their parents names. We just move and poor dd barely knew our last address and now she mixes up the old and current one. Our name is the only thing that can help her find us.
My ds once told me that he was "so happy your mommy named you mommy". Um, buddy, I have a real name. He didn't believe it for a long time. He's always been ok with dh having a real name, but for some reason I don't get one.

Do you call him any nicknames? Maybe you can explain it like, we call you___ but your name is___. That's why you call us mommy and daddy, but we call each other Mark and Vanessa. ,
my dh often calls me "babe". I'll never forget the first time I heard my dd calling "babe" and realizing she was referring to me.
