OK, the recent RB stocking has me thinking (always dangerous :LOL )

What's the verdict on flowers, butterflies, purple hues, hearts... on boys' dipes? I mean, short of pink and lace, how far will you go to the "girly" side of the dipe world on your DS?

About half of Bede's stash is purples like this. And he wears deep magentas sometimes and I
him in our Bold Flowers SOS...

When ds was first born I was very worried about anything and everything being too girly. That was back when I was trying to get his father to "like" him and want to know him. But after three visits he took off and now there are beautiful fabrics (some maybe a bit fem) all over our diapers.I mean I don't put him in a totally made for girl diaper but some are not exactly manly. Who cares? I am the one changing him and like to see the artwork on the diapers. I am glad I loosened up because I don't want to raise him to be an overly macho guy but comfortable in whatever he chooses to like.

DS has the joy of being born right after a DD and they are both in diapers at the same time.

Yup, he has ballet slippers on his butt right now. Though I wouldnt personally buy anything too girly for him or make him wear the girlies in public.

If he were older saying "mommy I want to wear the ballet slipper diaper" I would let him and not make a big deal since I dont want him to be hung up on what is macho and what is not...

course dh would call him a

K well I wouldn't put him in eyelet and roses or anything, but I would put him in nearly anything. I mean I see it and he poops in it, what is the big deal???

I have a pale peach kissaluv that I love on him, it just is pretty with his coloring.

just my incredibly important .02!!!

Both of my sons have had some dipes that some would consider to be on the girly side of gender neutral. But if I had a girl I woudn't be caught up in lace and frou-frou since I can't stand it myself :LOL Purple is my favorite color and I love primarys, bugs and flowers, celestials...actually I'm not too gaga over "macho" prints usually meant for boys like trucks and fighter jets (ok I have a fighter jets SOS that is my favorite cuz it's otherwise all hemp jersey so it rightfully earned a spot at the changing table)

My ds has a purple elbe cover, a rose red fuzeasy, an AIO with flowers and a FMBG fittedand cover with hibiscus flowers. I say as long as it's mostly gn, why not. He's a baby, he doesn't need to be masculine.

I buy diapers I like. My son has worn flowery prints in blues, dragonflies with sparkles, butterflies, purples, mauves, magentas, etc. Basically, as long as it isn't straight up screaming little girl, he wears it. I don't really care, but dh has given me 'the look' on some of the more girly dipes.

I don't really make a distinction between male and female colors, so I voted No Prob. In fact, it bugs me that boys are "supposed" to be in blue and girls are "supposed" to be in pink.

I got a bazillion baby clothes at my shower, all pink. Looked like a bottle of Pepto exploded. :LOL

When we go out, I often put DD in yellow or green because it confuses people.

I want people to see her as a person, not a gender. As long as the color looks good on the child, who cares?

We go borderline around here - I don't go out and buy really girly flowery diapers, but I do have a farmer girl print SOS, a dream heart SOS that has pink hearts on it, and a candy wrapper print diaper that is also primarily pink.

Diaperwise dh couldn't care less what ds wears, but clothingwise he is a bit more macho about it.

As we live in Hawaii and DH wears aloha shirts on a quite regular basis, he has no problem with it. In fact, I have made more than a few of DH's old aloha shirts into diapers and he really likes them :).

It is a weird distinction, but I wouldn't put DS in "floral" prints, but will put him in a lot of patterning that has flowers on it (many aloha prints). And a lot of what passes as "hawaiian" print for the rest of the US I wouldn't ever put on my kids (or myself, or anyone)...yes even a lot of the "aloha" or "hawaiian" print diapers that are linked from here or show up on much-loved diapering sites. I don't even know what exactly it is that distinguishes them, just something looks not-quite-right to me.

Your little guy in plaid is a doll! I gotta take some fashion pics like that! I voted: as long as they are not otherwise girly. For me that means: no pink! Even when I have a DD, I think I will still be a "no pink" person!

Yes, the bold florals at RB were very tempting! I ended up with the Orange paisley. I want DS in bright colors & a variety of colors, not just navy blue. We got a lot of green & yellow clothes before he was born & I agree, he gets told all the time how pretty he is. Unless hes got BLUE on, he's a girl to most people.

I just got him the Lucy's Hope Chest purple dragonflies cover that is very floral in a delicate, hand painted way. And the side snaps make it sort of ruffled, too. Also I have my eye on a great Floral Batik woven print at Sugar bums. It is listed in the girl fabrics, but it is so gender nuetral. I really dislike most "boy" prints, esp:"transportation" I mean, what makes that boyish?
I don't get it. Maybe if DS grows up to be a backhoe-loving-toddler or something, or trains, it'll make sense. I did just get him an adorable print with palm trees & bi-planes on it called Bon Voyage from Patchwork Pixie. It is on a light blue background, prolly the only boyish thing I have! I do like bugs, turtles, frogs, & fish, but I think I would have all that for a girl as well!

Fun topic!
