This is my morning PSA for those of you out there who STILL insist on not wearing your bicycle helmets. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/Cuss.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="cuss"><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/Cuss.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="cuss"> I don't care how dorky you think you look, you'll look even worse with your head smashed like a watermelon, mmkay? This man's helmet saved his life.<br><br>

Dh got run over by a tractor as a kid. No helmet but boy was he glad the ground was freshly turned over. Instead of crushing him, he sort of sank into the dirt around him. And you better believe we are believers in bike (both pedal and motor) helmets. It's a no brainer, pardon the pun <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngtongue.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Stick Out Tongue">

Holy cow. I think it also illustrates the problem of drivers not considering bikes to be legitimate vehicles on the road--although I won't deny that the problem is exacerbated by some bikers who don't feel they have to follow the rules of the road.<br><br><div style="margin:20px;margin-top:5px;">
