Hello,
My sister moved to Manchester a couple years ago, and is pregnant with #2 due in March. She is looking for hospital/birthing center/midwife recommendations. Wants 100% natural birth, no ivs, etc, and would like to water birth. Does not want to home birth.

Any help would be appreciated!
(she has no computer, which is why i'm posting for her)

oops, sorry, I should've been more specific...Manchester NH

Out of curiousity, Amy, where are you from in upstate NY? I grew up near Massena, NY, which is about 2 hours west of the VT/NY border, and about 3 minutes from the canadian border. My mother used to be a LLLI consultant all over the north country.
you can pm me if you don't want to say in public

Hi There.

Elliott Hospital in Manchester does water birthing. http://www.elliothospital.org/servic.../LD_index.html A friend of mine had her water birth there with no IVs or meds, and said they were wonderful- very supportive. I can find out her dr was, if you'd like.

Dr Monterella & Associates is a great OB & midwife practice. She's located very close to Elliott. I didn't have water birth, so I can't speak specific to her experience with that area, but do know she is great about following the patients' wishes about meds etc.

Elliott is also very supportive of birth bonding and breastfeeding, and has big rooms for the family to stay with Mom & Baby after birth. A few of the nurses are a bit "old school", but the vast majority are wonderful. And they have a level 3 NICU in case (heaven forbid) it's needed.

Please also invite your sister to attend our API group, if she has the inkling!

Pam, thanks! I will be passing along the info about Elliot, sounds perfect for her.

I will go to the website and pass on info about apimv...I would love her to get involved with something like that, she's home all day with her very rambunctious 2 year old. She feels a bit ostracized from most other moms because she's very young (21) with dreadlocks and tattoos and whatnot....she can be a bit shy. I know she's lonely up there, though, as our other sister & I both live in Boston together...she doesn't really have anyone up there. Thanks!!

Oh, and of course she practices AP...we were all raised AP.

I'm a young SAHM in Manchester. I don't have tatoos or dreadlocks, but I don't care about those things:) If she wants to get together, that would be cool. PM me if you/she want.

I have an almost 8 mo. old DD.

I have heard great things about Elliott and CMC's midwife group.
