You need to use UBB code, not HTML. And I've never seen pics posted inline, so you should just use a link, I think. You can either type out the code or use the link up in the edit functions--it's the one of a world/globe with chainlinks.<br><br>
Here's your <a href="http://pics.livejournal.com/inefuori/pic/0002h95a/" target="_blank">link</a>.

The graph is from the circumstitions.com web site<br><br><a href="http://www.circumstitions.com/USA.html" target="_blank">http://www.circumstitions.com/USA.html</a><br><br>
and the rates are from the cirp.org web site.<br><br><a href="http://www.cirp.org/library/statistics/USA/staterates2004/" target="_blank">http://www.cirp.org/library/statisti...taterates2004/</a><br><br>

Wow, if that map is correct, I may just have to stay in FL. (DH and I plan to move out of FL eventually.) I had no idea FL could be so "ahead" on this issue.

Not only do the statistics not reflect circs performed as out-patients in doctor's offices or by mohel's, but I don't think they could possibly reflect the babies born at home who are remain intact. Of course sadly I'm sure the rate of the former is much higher.

There's no data for Illinois, but I grew up in the Chicago suburbs and I can tell you that the circ rates have got to be in the neighborhood of 90%, based on my experience <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/greensad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="greensad">.

<div style="font-style:italic;">There are far too many states with no data to make the map really useful.</div>

I agree.<br><br>
Texas is the second largest state with probably the lowest rate of circumcisions. I know A LOT of intact children here. Circ'd children are definitely the minority.<br><br>
I wonder if TX actually turned in their statistics then the national average would drop considerably. Same goes with Alaska - their records aren't combined with the national average either and I'll bet their rates a low.

Less than 1% of births are outside of a hospital at all, whether planned homebirths, freestanding birth centers, or accidental births elsewhere. So I don't think statistically they'd matter at all.
