Anyone else watching some of the marathon in person? We plan on going (unless it rains). I just found out my neighbor will be running.

Anyone know if Lance is running again this year?

We'll probably stand in front of Starbucks while drinking hot tea. And when ds gets bored, we'll pop into the bookstore if they will be open. (so many places are closed either due to Patriots Day or just from being so busy due to the marathon.

So, if you'll be watching in person, what town will you be in?

We stay as far away from it as possible. But I suppose when the kids are older we might watch it once, since it does pass through the southern tip of our town. But the traffic...ugh! No thanks. I'll watch it on tv!

I'm lucky that I don't have to deal with traffic. We can walk into town to watch it. To be honest, we don't actually watch much. We watch for about 15 minutes (while ds puts his hand out for the runners to high five). We have snacks (tea/latte for me) and chat with people we know. It's like a town wide picnic here.

Congrats!!

Well, it started out very quiet. Not many spectators. We got to see the first wheelchair and other special needs participants come by. Ds was super excited! We stayed long enough to watch the first group of women and then the first group of men come through.
By then, the crowd had grown and it had gotten noisy (bells, whistles, noisemakers, shouts/cheering). Ds was ready to go home.

None of the first runners were doing the high fives and ds was very sad about that. The high fivers usually only happen when there are so many runners that the street width is full. It was too cold to stay for that.

We went out and stood near the Starbucks - can't believe I didn't see you, DOK!! Saw the elite women and men's packs, then stayed til almost noon, so out there for about an hour and a half. We eventually walked down towards the Wellesley (College) Scream Tunnel - it was so fun down there! The runners all had really big smiles coming out of it. It was very inspiring!

What is the scream tunnel?? Sounds cool!
I saw your dh and ds (walking past Rugged Bear). We started out at Starbucks but then went to stand in front of Rugged Bear (we know the manager and her daughter so it was fun). It would have been fun to stand with you for a bit. Maybe next year...If we are both still in MA.

you guys are awesome for coming out. i've run the marathon the last two years (and another mdc mom also qualified this year) - and the course/community support is just OUTSTANDING. honestly, the heartfelt cheering and tons of little kids waiting for high-fives kept me just floating the entire time. thank you so much!
