So, i think I have most of my maternity clothes, unless these get too small for me, which i doubt.
I got most of my new stuff from Old Navy, a few shirts from the thrift store, and my sister's maternity clothes.

Why is it that the jeans I got from old navy (under the belly elastic band) fit for the first 1/2 of the day after they come out of the dryer, but the afternoon/evening and next day they are loose and start to slide down every time I bend over or sit down etc...? I am constantly pulling them up and that is SO not attractive. they are size small (i think Old Navy changed sizeings 'cause I doubt I'm really a small)

okay, rant over.

My maternity jeans do exactly the same thing. I think that mine are from Motherhood. It is really annoying. I expect that I'll be in "loungewear" for the remainder of this pregnancy, but I plan on playing it off as an athletic look. I am an assistant soccer coach, afterall

Same thing is happening to me - it's just the nature of the stretchy fabric the bands are made of for it to stretch out like that.

I hate maternity clothes... arg. I have the cords from old navy which are the best preggo and post preggo pants I have (and this is my third time with this...) but they do the same thing... They just get stretched out. I like to wear the same pants for at least 2 days without washing (saves water, right?
)

So I just go about saggin' and pullin' up. I feel like a toddler. I think I need suspenders!

I saw the coolest thing on a website--it is like this stretchy band thing that allows you to wear your normal clothes (unbuttoned and unzipped!) and then the band goes over it. It is called the belly band :

http://www.bellaband.com/bellaband.html

Has anyone tried this?
It seems so cool and if it works, really cost effective. Esp. for after the baby is born when you don't want to even look at the maternity clothes again but still cannot fit into your regular clothes....

But then it seems too good to be true...

Disclaimer: I own a store that sells maternity clothing, so my view are a bit skewed.
:

As for why the pants fall down, I think there are 2 things. One, under the belly clothing will simply stretch after a while. Two, you get what you pay for. My best maternity clothing as far as fit, comfort and wear has been the more expensive clothing I have bought from the non-chain stores. (That is one of the reasons I opend a maternity store. My area is full of chains, with no (1 about a 1/2 hour away) independent stores around.)

I have heard from my customers that Bella Bands are wonderful, although I haven't tried one myself. They are thrilled with them. The one thing I question is why have an under the belly pant if you need a Bella Band to hold them up!
But they work great for converting regular pants to maternity pants. They also work well when you are nursing, to cover up your baby fat when pulling up a non-nursing shirt.

I thought about a bella band, but then I couldn't see buying an item that I would use for a while and then have to go out and buy new pants anyway. Why not buy the pants now and use them as much as I need so that i can get my money out of them?

At least you can buy maternity jeans. I can not for the life of me find a pair of maternity jeans that fit AND look semi- decent. I have a petite frame with short legs and everything in small & med. goes about 2 inches past my feet. Even if i hem them the crotch still hangs 2/3 to my knees.

The people of Bella Band would tell you to buy your maternity pants early and use the Band to hold the pants up until they fit well.

I'm still going to have to buy more maternity clothes. I've been wearing basically what I wore with dd, but it's all summer stuff and soon it will start to get COOOOLLLLLDDDDD here!!!

I did have a pair of jeans converted by Cheryl of www.bellyjeans.com. I just sent her a pair of my regular jeans......they are super comfy and I like the fit better than with regular maternity jeans. I have the exact same problem as everyone else!

I recently had a rather chaotic afternoon in search of maternity clothes. I'd heard that Old Navy had cute stuff, so I went there first. The jeans I saw were "cargo" style, which I can't wear because they make my hips and butt look HUGE! I went to every store in the mall (HATE!!!) with the exception of JC Penney because I got so mad I didn't want to go into another store. I even went to Wal-Mart in a moment of desperation! Target didn't have much, although I did find a cute skirt.

I went home in tears because I couldn't find anything that fit! I called my mom and she said "I know JC Penney has maternity clothes" so we went there that evening... and I found clothes that fit!!!!! Bonus: everything I got was on clearance so it was cheap cheap cheap! However, I ended up getting the full panel pants because I couldn't find any under-belly pants that didn't sag in the crotch. I have the exact same problem with them being a little loose on the tummy after awhile so they start sliding down. I HOPE the problem will lessen as my belly gets bigger. If not, it's a whole lot better than having pants that cut off my circulation. I also got two other pairs of pants that are stretchy belly, but not full panel. They're really comfortable and look really nice!

Also, JC Penney is having a pretty good sale on bras. If you're anything like me, you've been avoiding buying new ones for awhile now and are squished in a too-tight sports bra, so it's worthwhile to check out the bra sale and the salespeople will help fit you for a new bra.

I bought my tops in a lot sale on Ebay - 22 tops for like $60, including shipping, so I highly recommend checking there for a bargain!

I have had good luck at JC Penney before. Glad you found some things that fit!

My issue is that I wear "small" early in pregnancy and "medium" by the time I'm done. My butt grows with the belly, LOL. I'm currently in between sizes. I've stocked up on "mediums" for the coming school semester, but I remember getting so huge last time that I only had 2 pairs of shorts that fit in the end, and I'm nervous that I'll have nothing that fits by the end of this pregnancy... I won't know till we get there!

And in medium, the belly part fits but the length is usually way too long and I am sewing-impaired so I can't even hem anything. Some brands have a good length. I can't wear Motherhood unless they're capris or skirts once I get into medium.

Argh... I wish I could go in loungewear for my 3rd tri.
