Hi Expectant mommies,
This is a first time I have started a thread, and am wondering what do you like. dislike or would hope to find in maternity clothes?

I design organic maternity clothes and always like toknow what it is you want.

Thanks

Another vote for under the belly skirts and pants. I have a couple of drawstring linen skirts that I wear almost constantly. They're kind of A-line, come to mid calf on me (but I'm 5'2") and tie on both sides instead of in front. The best thing about them is they can be worn before, during and after pregnancy.

I also like tops that cover (or mostly cover) the belly but don't hang to my knees. I hate tent like tops.

Dresses that tie in back so they're adjustable are nice. My ideal dress would be somewhat stretchy, adjustable and would have nursing openings for a nursing toddler or for after the baby.

Oh, and all pants/shorts should have some stretch, not just in the waistband but in the butt and legs too. Legs and thighs get "pregnant" right along with the belly for most people.

HTH!

peace, Beth

See, now, I have to disagree w/the under-belly pants. At first, I thought they were a great idea, but after wearing them for a couple hours, I discovered they slid right off my hips and gave me a great case of PC (plumber's crack). And my hips are not the non-existant variety, BTW - there's plenty there for the pants to hang on!

Beth - those A-line skirts sound great! I haven't seen anything like that, I'd grab it right up if I had.

As far as tops go, I don't like tent-tops, either. However, sometimes (depending on pants) that's what I had to have to cover up the belly panel (or my belly, if I was wearing under-belly pants). In fact, after I had Will, I still wore maternity pants/skirts, and had to keep wearing the maternity shirts, even though they really did look like tents! They were the only thing that could cover up that stupid panel!

I'd like to see some pants/skirts that were somehow adjustable, but didn't have that panel. When I was pregnant, it was obvious that I was pregnant, so I wasn't really trying to hide it or anything. I wouldn't have minded wearing shirts that were a little shorter, except that then the belly panel on my bottoms would have been exposed. I HATE that - I don't know why. Maybe someone could come up w/a top that's long and roomy, but not A-line (A-line is great in skirts, not so wonderful in a top, especially AFTER the baby).
