Hi to all and I'm sorry I haven't updated stickies and replied to emails.

Nobody can really say when my labor started, but after almost 4 days of intermittant labor, Matthew Paul arrived on Wed Apr 26, 2006 at 8:48pm. He is (or was at birth) 5lb 6 oz and 17.5 inches and has READ THE BOOK on being a preemie at 35 weeks gd. Matthew is perfect and in good health, but doesn't know when he is hungry and therefore must be fed every 3 hours regardless of whether he appears to want food or not. He will take a VERY long time to even get down 30ccs and his blood sugar was crashing without a supplement from the hospital (we did try to exclusively bf at first, but my body just hasn't gotten the milk yet to stabalize him on its own.

Because of our high commitment level of being the only ones to feed him, even if it had to be formula (more on that freakin fiasco later) and our VERY ADAMANT desire to have Matt eventually become an on demand exclusive BF baby, we were unprecedently allowed to sleep in the glorified breastfeeding room (read about the size of a closet) after I was discharged last night. DH and I have been the only ones feeding Matt since very shortly after he was born.

Matt was just discharged at about 2pm today so we've only had him home a short while. We're doing fine, but my long exhausting NATURAL labor has taken its toll on me. I promise to A) read all your posts, B) reply to them, C) update our sticky, much better VERY soon, but hope you understand I'm not sure if that will be tomorrow or the next day.

The upshot is, he is gorgeous, healthy, and on his way to becomming the naturally fed baby we want. He's just going to need to work harder until one day it becomes old hat to him to eat!

I know through our commitment and this great support team at mothering and in our lives this will be very soon. Thanks for the support, and understanding that I need to put him first, what mothering is all about!

Blessings to all!
Love,
