How's everyone feeling?

I'm feeling pretty good overall. Sciatica comes and goes. It's bothering me a teeny bit today, but feels a lot better after I laid down and took a nap.

Time was going by pretty quickly the first half of this pregnancy. But it seems like time is slowing down a bit now. Maybe since I think about being pregnant more and can feel the baby kick and I'm looking fairly pregnant too. Just starting to get a tiny bit impatient about meeting my new baby.

I'm not feeling too energetic today, just kind of "Blah". But I did take a walk to the store with DS earlier. I'm going to do a little bit of yoga later. Meanwhile I think I'm going to finish doing some dishes while DS is napping.

Pregnancy is going well, felt the baby while driving today, that happens a lot. I wonder if he/she will like or hate riding in the car ???

I'm sick. Even broke down yesterday and bought cough medicine. I'm feeling a bit better today than I was last night, but yesterday we were outside at a birthday party and I think the heat intensified it all a bit.

So we'll just be hanging out around the house this week. We have wedding things going on Thursday (rehearsal), Friday (rehearsal dinner), and Monday is my sisters wedding. We'll have family in town all weekend of course. And our ultrasound on Saturday!

things are mostly okay here. the thrush came back, AND i got another vaginal yeast infection, along with the spotting it brought last time. i didn't freak out this time, though, since i pretty much know what's going on. so now, i'm on a serious anti-yeast protocol with tons of supplements, dietary restrictions, and of course the GV for dd and i. other than that, things are going pretty well. i've been feeling a lot more movement in the last week or so, especially after i eat. i haven't felt any real kicks yet, but a lot of swimming around is going on in there!

also, although I said last week that i atill had plenty of milk, it seems to have nearly dried up over night. Rhiannon still says there's some in there, but she's doing a lot of breast switching and massaging to get at it. She's also sick today (diarreah and throwing up) and it's the first time she's ever been sick beyond the sniffles - and that's tough to deal with without milk. i actually had dh buy pedialyte, because it's been so hot here and i'm worried about dehydration.

that's about it, i guess - hope everyone else is doing well!

Doing good here! I haven't had my sciatica for a few days and it's nice. I went on a bike ride with dh and the kids yesterday. I was so exhausted afterwards! Plus it's been really HOT here so that added to my tiring easy.

Not feeling the baby very much yet but I ALWAYS worry about whether or not the baby is growing...this is how I get a week or so before my next appt - worrisome... Other than that my u/s is on Monday...hope everything is going smoothly inside me!

Jeri hope you're feeling better!!! Thrush is the pits!

Aishy hope you're feeling better soon too!

Hope all is going well for everyone else!

Hello, all.

I'm officially 20 weeks today, as my ob's due date is the 11th (but I haven't had 28 day cycles since I started having cycles.) I am feeling huge. Yesterday, I was at a friend's house, and she said, "You are really showing now! I thought you were probably just being melodramatic about your belly!"

I have my U/S on Thursday. I'm pretty excited. I think it's neat to see inside, and since this will probably be my only one, I'm even more excited.

I am having such healthy cravings (that was sarcastic) and today, after the fourth day of it, I had fried chicken. And it was really wonderful to my tastebuds... *sigh* Guilt and satisfaction both.

Pyra I hear you about the 'healthy' cravings. For about a week or two I had to have potato chips and dip. Now it doesn't take over my brain. I'm also feeling huge but don't have that waddle!

I've started to get puffy legs (it goes away after I lie down) it happens earlier and earlier w/each pg!

Hope all is well w/everyone!

I've noticed I've started waddling a bit, even though I'm definitely not gaining weight. Maybe my hips are just spreading out. I need some encouragement that my baby is going to grow and gain weight even though it seems like I will never gain any. I lost 10 and I'm only up 5...so I'm still -5...and I get really worried. He kicks soooo much though! The other night I was hanging out with my sister-in-law and we just watched my belly dance for hours. It was fun. Hmm. What else...well, it was Victoria Day here yesterday (long weekend) and we had a couples retreat with Derek's brothers and sisters and their husbands/wives and kids. It was really fun. We tie-dyed onesies (I will hopefully remember to take pictures and post them tomorrow). Also I'm in the process of packing up our house because we are moving at the end of June...not entirely sure where to yet, but God knows. :LOL
That's about all that's new for me.

hey ladies...I sure have been busy...it was a long weekend...went camping...still cleaning up from that...we got rained out so I have to hang up tent today.

Last night Sophia woke at 4am and came into bed with me...she was so HOT...so I went and gave her liquid tylenol..her temp was over 100F..now this morning she seems fine..what's up with that?

MY tummy is growing and the kicking is getting stronger...I was a bit worried as I felt very little movement over the weekend...then yesterday I felt the most ever! So this baby is getting stronger every day! It just needs an occasional rest!

I am hoping to get a long walk in today...and I have been trying to hone my diet...way too much junk lately..and I have been feeling sluggish.

cheers
ryleeee, I've only gained 6 pounds so far. I think as long as you're putting good stuff into your body that baby will be healthy and strong. I've had no indication from my doc or ultrasound that my boy is anything but perfectly healthy. I was actually worried the other month 'cause I didn't gain at all, but the doc pointed out that I'm a pretty small person and I shouldn't expect to gain as much as other women. She also pointed out that what she looks at is the proportions of your body, and that I looked perfectly in proportion.

All is pretty good here. Our ultrasound was wonderful and having our two older children with us made it really special. Is anyone else still having trouble with waking/feeling groggy in the mornings? Seems like I don't want to do anything for at least an hour after I get out of bed, but I'm getting plenty of sleep (about 10 hours a night).

My dd is dealing with the fact that she's getting a brother. She's 7, and even though we talked and talked about how the baby could be either gender she was convinced it was a girl. She was pretty sad at the ultrasound. I think the ultrasound also brought up another issue for her - she won't be the baby anymore! I think actually seeing the baby brought reality home. She said she likes being the littlest one and doesn't want to stop being the littlest one. Any tips to help her out? Thanks!

Operamommy...my dd was 9 when Sophia came...she wanted a brother but was absolutely fascinated with her sister when she came...I think once she sees this baby she will be fine..plus she has a few months to get to know this baby. We worked really hard to make sure that she wasn't left out of anything..at 9 she was big enough to carry baby in the sling and we let her do that every day..I think it was key to the bonding between them...there is no sign of any rivalry now. BUT I focussed so much on the 9 year old being upset at not being the baby I kind of forgot about my oldest who was 13 being a bit upset and jealous...she was and we almost missed it. I guess we just never considered it and she hid it well(being 13 I guess she felt bad about it) but it did eventually come out. We acknowledged her feelings and told her she was the oldest...there is nothing like the first baby and that she had been just as doted on as a baby/toddler as her little sister. We got out family videos and watched them and she was really excited when she saw how much her baby sister looked like her at 2yrs old!

Good luck! How exciting to have a son!

Sounds like everyone is keeping busy and feeling pretty good overall.

eclipse, sorry to hear you are having to deal with the yeast again. That's got to be aggravating. Hope all of your measures lessen it's effects quickly and that you feel better soon.

I am also starting to waddle, just slightly. Not too noticeable yet. I am just recently noticing it is harder to get myself up off my couch :LOL . Soon I'll probably be having DH give me a hand to do that. I can't believe how huge I am already. I mean, I look as big as I was at 7 to 8 months pregnant already! I am going to post an update pic in the belly pic thread soon. It should be today, and you all will see what I'm talking about.

To avoid sciatica, I've been making DH carry heavy loads of laundry, and getting DS in his car seat when he's around, etc. I'm also having to modify a lot of my yoga moves too. I find as long as I don't overdo I can avoid the sciatica pretty well. I've been having some mild hip and lower back pain, but nothing like I was having a week or two ago.

Today I'll be at my mom's doing laundry all day. She lets me do it over there, and I clean her house a little bit too while I'm there. It really helps us out, because we can't afford to use the laundry mat at our apartment complex right now. I mean, we could easily spend $20 a week on laundry. Money we just don't have right now.

I may be starting a part time job! On the weekends. Doing home companion work for elderly folks. My mom is the director at a home health agency and I just asked if it would be possible to just do jobs on the weekends, and she said that'd be fine. Our finances are kind of in a rut right now. I will most like only work until a couple weeks before my due date. We just need a little extra to pay for our midwife expenses mostly, and to catch up on some things. I'd also really like to get DS his own bed and see if he might start sleeping in it before the new little one arrives. I haven't worked in ....hmm wow...in 2 1/2 years! It's going to be interesting...

Well I am feeling just AWESOME these days!
I just got back from the doctor and my blood pressure is 118/76.....means nothing to me but they were quite happy about that.
Gained some weight
And the heart beat was SUPER fast! DS was only 120 beats this one is 155! that is a HUGE difference.

And I am measuring ahead again...I did with DS too....however not this far. I am 18 weeks tomorrow and am measuring 21 weeks! He told his student doctor before he measured me that he would expect the uterus to be just below my belly button...so he measured three times because he was surprised it was measuring that far ahead.

allgirls, thanks for the advice. Also, a super thanks for the heads-up about an older child getting a bit jealous. My ds (10) is so easy-going normally that it would be really easy to miss anything like that with him; now I know to keep an eye out. I'm trying really hard not to let dd's attitude about the baby bring me down. It's hard to hear her being so negative about the fact that he's a he. My sister, like you, said that once the baby is born she'll be fine, but it's gonna be hard to listen to her pout about it till October. I figure I'll give her about a week and then we'll sit down and have a talk about pouting.

Does everyone else's midwife/dr. measure them? My doc is *so* hands-off; I've never been measured once. Is that weird?

I had quite a few things to do today. The very first was the ultrasound. I'm having another boy. We've decided on a name, already, so I'm already calling him by his name (Trent Alexander.)

Then my doc came in and got the heartbeat, since Trent refused to sit still in one place long enough for the ultrasound machine to capture it definitively. That was all my doc did, this time. I never have any questions, and everything's going well...

Then I had to go to kindergarten confirmation with Devon... That was very stressful. I can't believe how much stuff they test for kindergarten. 2 hours, and my son was antisocial, a little under the weather, and tired... It wasn't the most pleasant of times. He refused the hearing test, refused to be weighed or measured in any way... And people wonder why I haven't done an official dentist appointment yet. Imagine trying to get a very strong-willed screamer to let you poke at his mouth...

Then we had to call the bank about the awful money situation... And borrow money for an overdue water bill and milk...

I feel like either sobbing or pulling my hair out... Oh well, thankfully that's over. Now things can only swing back up.

Hope everyone's doing well.

Well, this week has been pretty fun. I am feeling the baby all the time now. During yoga today - or actually, right as the class started - baby did a series of these funny kicks that almost made me laugh out loud. it's really fun. My husband can now feel the baby which is so great! i love that he can experience some of this too.

Had my prenatal appointment this week. Checked the heartbeat again, talked about exercise and protein intake (80 - 100 grams seems impossible to me!!!) and that is about it. Everyone has been telling me that i look really big for 19 weeks and so for a while, i was thinking - "is it twins?, everyone keeps asking me if i have twins!" even though i really didn't feel like it could be a possiblity. We haven't had a ultrasound so, if the heartbeats happened to be the same, we wouldn't really know. The midwife said that I am actually measuring just under for my date so it isn't likely that its twins (along with other things that don't indicate twins). Funny how what other people comment on can really make you question your own intuition. I have to remember not to let that happen.

i have been managing to exercise quite a bit over the past two weeks and that feels really good. I am a rock climber and am still climbing although i am getting really close to not fitting into my harness anymore. It's different now, of course (much mellower), but still fun and i really like to be outdoors. Other than that, things are great.

I'm doing a lot better than I was two days ago! The doctor diagnosed me with placenta previa and basically told me to count on a c-section (the original thread is in "I'm Pregnant") but I learned that 97% of cases are misdiagnosed early so there is a good chance it will shift. Gosh. I was so worried. Even now I'm not worried. We'll do what we have to do, and if that means a c-section is the only way to have a healthy, live baby, then that's what we do. I had a hard time giving it up to God, but he knows what's best and I can't change that.

Also, a lot of my stress might be relieved today (which would be sooo good) because I found us an AMAZING apartment to rent (with a heated salt-water pool/sauna/fitness room/tennis courts/playground/fenced yard - ALL INCLUDED IN RENT AS WELL AS UTILITIES with a DISHWASHER...oh my gosh) and it's about $650 CAD a month which would be cutting it close with me not working and Derek's recent job transformation (he went from social worker to screen printer :LOL but he's much happier and that's all that matters) but it's soooo awesome. It's on the 20th floor overlooking the river, on the sunny side of the building, in a quiet neighbourhood with a doctor's office and a grocery store right in the building. Oh my GOSH I'm so nervous. Our credit check goes through today. I realllllllllllllly hope that we get it. Again, something I have to leave in God's hands. We don't have bad credit...but I dunno. I'm still super worried. But that would just be so amazingly awesome. The bad thing is that laundry is $3.50 a load which is SUPER expensive, but the train is right nearby and there are laundrymats downtown for cheaper. It might make cloth diapering a little more difficult :LOL so we'll have sposies on hand just in case. And we really can't afford a diaper service right now. Or anywhere in the near future. So...oh well. We'll see.

Anyways.....this is getting super long. I have a horrible cold that is congesting my ears and nose and making my throat sore with the dripping which in turn makes my stomach queasy with the excess mucous (blech) and a bad headache. But I'm firm about not taking anything...so I'll just have to stick it out! :LOL

My friend Effy is going in for surgery today. She has pancreas cancer and they found 3 tumours in her gall-bladder. She has two little boys and her fiance died in a car accident a few years ago. She's having a rough time working lots and looking after the boys. She lives with her Mom. Anyways, she's just been on my heart a lot lately. Maybe you could keep her in yours as well.

Good news: The doctor said the baby is developing normally, that his heart and lungs and brain are all developing at a great pace and that he's a good size. AND! I GAINED WEIGHT! I gained 5 pounds last month! And that is SOOOO awesome. I'm still 1 pound below my pre-pregnancy weight, but it's looking good! I have never been more excited about gaining weight in my life. :LOL

I'll let you girls know later if we get our house or not.
eeks. Keep us in your prayers!!!!!!!!

Oh, you are all in our prayers here - that your previa will completely be resolved all on it's own and that you can have a natural delivery (and on the small chance it doesn't, that a necessary c-section would go completely smooth and you and babe are healthy!), that you get your awesome apartment ( I just told DH we need to move to Canada :LOL ), and also that your friend Effy gets through the surgery just fine.

Hi Sexy Mamas,
Sending you lots of good wishes for that apt Rylee, that stuff can be stressful and exciting for sure.
I awoke in the middle of the night feeling so good, I looked out at the calm sea and watched an otter playing right in the silvery reflection of the moon. Such a good sign and a beautiful sight.
The last 2 weeks have been crazy for me and my little one. Something showed up on my ultrasound that was enough cause for concern to my midwives that I went to the city for 2 days of appiontments at the hospital. More ultrasounds, genetics counselling and then an amnio yesterday afternoon. It was bizarre, to be spending all this energy protecting my beautiful little one and then to have a pretty invasive procedure. But it's done, I'm home, the sun is shining, my garden is growing and i'm feelin positive. Love, Shell and Baby
