Hi Mamas! I don't really have anything to update for this week but I saw no one had started the thread so I was hoping I could help get the ball rolling. Now y'all have to keep it going because I need the updates from you more upbeat mamas to add spice to the monotony of my days.

I hope everyone is doing well.

UmmIbadullah - I was thinking of your son's name while I slept - daeel haqq - I love the way it sounds. Do you call him by the whole thing?

What is going on here... dh and I freaked out and decided we were ashamed of the way we live our lives - very lazy and not going anywhere and dependent on my parents. He is off to look for better jobs today and we are starting the "Your Money or Your Life" program to change our money IQ. We are also gonna sell our nice VW Passat wagon b/c it costs too much. We fought a little last night and I cried a lot b/c these are tough things to think about, you know?

I also realized (yes, this has taken me a while) that I am a mother and I have to take care of my children and do the best by them, and to do this, I am completely dependent on dh - I can't just run out and get a job myself. It was a sobering and scary realization.

Oh yesterday was a wonderful day. Hehe! Got my tax returns back so now dh and I can take care of a few things that need to be taken care of and still have some money left over to save. We even had enough to be able to set aside a bit of "Mad Money" to be able to get a few things we wanted but don't really need. I tell you that is really nice.

My week started off with a really annoying doorbell constantly ringing. A construction worker wanting to let me know that they would be tearing up the street in front of my building and that if I wanted to be able to use my car, that I would need to move it. So I got the kids all dressed and we had a morning out and about running errands and eating McDonalds breakfast. I know, not healthy, but I didn't want to pay for a sit down place and I just didn't have time to get them fed breakfast. *sigh*

Today should be fun though. This afternoon I will be finishing up some errands and doing a wee bit of grocery shopping. I think I will call my friend and see if she has had her baby yet. For her sake I hope she does soon. She is "due" next thursday, but she has been very uncomfy and having alot of hip pain. Send gentle labor vibes her way if you would please.

I suppose I should get to doing a few things around the house. I will check in later. Hope you all had a good weekend.

Hello everyone!

Goldiemom, I envy your tax returns! We had to pay this year... April was a tough month for us.

Galatea, I'm sorry your having $ stress. We've been going through that too, ever since I found out I was pregnant. And I'm feeling guilty about being dependant myself. I'm self employed, but in truth it's closer to unemployed most weeks. Sigh. But it seems like whenever there's a need something falls into my lap, so I'm trusting that it will all work out. (For instance, last week I unexpectedly sold a photograph which will pay for our childbirth classes and a doula!) Anyway, sounds like you're off to the right start by downsizing the vehichle and upping your money IQ. Good luck!

UmmIbadullah, hi there! Thanks for starting the thread.

So this week is sort of busy for me, with a dental appointment today and a midwife appointment on Thursday, and trying to get ready to leave town on Saturday.

We'll be driving to Delaware where my brother is getting married on June 4th. I can't wait... We're stretching it out into an almost two week vacation & will be there early enough to have some time to ourselves at the beach, then several days with each side of the family before and after the wedding. I figured this might well be our last childless vacation, so we might as well make the most of it! Our baby will be the first of the next generation in my family, so I know everyone will be very excited to see my belly (which is finally starting to poke out ).

And on Thursday evening I'm taking a special yoga workshop class for women with a senior teacher from India, so that should be a lot of fun.

As far as the pregnancy goes, I'm at 25 weeks now (LMP) which is really kind of crazy. When I see other people's babies I can hardly believe that we're going to have one in three more months! I'm getting little sacri-iliac pains every now and then - a minor annoyance. And sometime my hips feel a little achey at night when I turn from one side to another - not sure what that's about but I assume it's got to be pregnancy related. Really, nothing to complain about compared to what some women go through.

I hope the rest of you are doing well. I can't wait to get the birth beads and see what everyone has chosen!

Hi Mamas! I hope everyone is doing well. I'm running around like crazy today, so will catch up later!

I missed my midwife appointment last week, so have to call this afternoon to reschedule. I go to the dentist in a couple weeks and hopefully will be able to take care of some of my dental issues soon. I also have to schedule check-ups for my younger two, as we didn't do them last year and I have a couple things I need to discuss with their pediatrician. This also means we'll get into a vaccination discussion, since my youngest has had one (I think) and I kept "putting off" others. I guess I have to have that conversation sometime! She also doesn't know I'm pregnant yet!

Today is our last day of "Tuesday Night Sunday School" and I spent the past couple days making 3 dozen plaques with our theme decoupaged onto them, making preparations for our big party, and making a gift for our pastor. My kids are well enough to go (after getting food poisioning), thankfully, so we should have a great time. We're still hanging out at my parents' house and will definitely have to clean up and get ourselves home tomorrow! :LOL

I'm 23.5 weeks pregnant now. Only 16.5 weeks to go....and soooo much to do! I'm SOOOO hoping we can get enough $ for our Jeep to buy a decent minivan. I'm also hoping we can save up enough $ over the next few months to not only pay the midwives, but buy dh a vehicle, even if it only lasts 6 months! I'll go crazy if I'm stuck in the house with three overactive children and a newborn!!!

I hope everyone is well and I'll catch up soon!

For the next installment in Goldie's crazy life... LOL! I am wanting to wring the construction workers necks this morning. They are still needing to break up parts of the street which causes our entire block to shake, rattle, and roll. They started this at just before 7 this morning. Thankfully I have been blessed with two kids that seem to be able to sleep through anything. I thought for sure that they would wake up because of it.

Later this morning I will be taking the kids to ds' appt with his opthamologist. That should be... fun. But I really like this woman. She is great with ds and tries really hard to work around any issues he might have with the normal way that she examines kids.

DD and I will be meeting up with my pregnant friend this afternoon. We are going to the Outlet Mall to walk around and try to get her labor going. It should be nice. Not supposed to get rainy and yucky until tomorrow. I am off to start my grand adventure now! Have a good day everyone.

Can I join in your construction worker complaints, Goldie? The gas company tore up our sidewalks long ago and they are finally getting replaced. Of course, this means that we can't park in front of our house. I had to park way at the top of the hill last night and this morning I had lug ds on my hip, his diaper bag, my work bag and my purse up the hill. Ugh! I hope to get a better space tonight or else I'm pulling out the mei tai to carry ds to the car tomorrow morning. On the bright side, when ds got up on his own at 6am yesterday it was nice to sit on the front porch and let him watch the digger and the dump truck starting around 7:30am. I even got to read a little bit!

My DH and 4.5 yr old are having a great time overseas. My 6.5 yr old and I are getting lots of mommy & me time. All she wants to do is go out to dinner somewhere different every night. Last night we jumped into the jacuzzi together, she played, I lounged.

This morning I decided to partake in a little self indulgence, had an aromatherapy pedicure and massage. Took dd and a friend to lunch and they are now playing while I get to relax.

The weather in New England really stinks this week, it feels like late Fall! It was 44F yesterday and its only 47F today! It's warmer and sunny in Ireland where DH and dd are! I hope the sun comes out soon.

Baby doing lots of kicking, braxs hicks are back to normal, having to drink tons of water.

Been reading 'Your Self-Confident Baby', it was okay until I got to the chapter on 'sleep'. This author is a 'sleep trainer', not exactly cio, but sleep in crib/own bed type stuff, does not agree with co-sleeping. I'm a big 'family bed' advocate so I'm not sure I will finish reading the book. The author also isn't a big fan of baby spending lots of time in the sling while mommy does other stuff. I love the sling, so you can see how this book isn't shaping up to be a favorite

I have also been reading 'Ina May (Gaskin's) Guide to Childbirth' , this is a great book, very empowering!

Also went thru 'Knitting for Baby', great patterns for baby stuff, once I finish my current hooded cardigan, I'll have to start a pattern from this book.

Have a great hump day ladies.

hi everyone! 22 weeks down, plenty to go.

i just switched practices last week. i'm now seeing a midwife who's over an hour from home versus the doc/midwife practice i was seeing that was 45 minutes away. my fave doc left the practice, so there was really no reason to stay because i feel no bond with any of the other docs and dislike at least one quite a bit. oh, and they're really expensive, even with the insurance help.

so... the drive is awful but i think the switch is going to be a good thing. i made the mistake of mentioning it to my parents, who probably still wish i was going to plan a hospital birth even though the last homebirth was so easy. sigh. they're msotly supportive, but not thrilled i can tell. just worried. they never had any children (my brother and i are adopted), so all the know is from family members and friends and i daresay everyone there had hospital births, some with complications.

i'm a bit nervous about the distance the midwife is from home, too -- but there just isn't anyone nearby who's legal and covered under my insurance. and this midwife has gotten raves from everyone i've talked to that knows her. and i really need the insurance help, we're already paying for cobra because no one will accept me or dh right now because i'm pregnant anyway (individual/independent insurance, that is -- if dh gets a job with benefits it will be a different story, but that hasn't happened yet).

i've noticed a little colostrom on my nips lately. it's beena longtime since i've been able to express anything, so it was purdy neat expressing a few drops from one side the other day. i think ds has been essentially dry nursing for a while now -- he doesn't seem to mind, one way or the other. i'm really sore, but holding up well enough. i'm getting more and more confident that he won't wean on me during this pregnancy... there was a time i was really worried about it and another period of time i was sort of ambivalent about it. and now i'm just happy that if he does stick with it, he'll be getting the plentiful and good stuff again in several more months.

i've been going a little nuts at garage sales picking up girlie clothes for next to nothing. won't it be a disappointment if it is another boy after all. but i've been buying a few girlie things since pretty early on, well before the u/s that said probably a girl. i'm not sure if i was guided by intuition or wishful thinking. regardless, whether boy or girl this baby will have plenty of clothes (probably too many, i just keep finding cute things!).

i'm finally going to announce to my mom's side of the family that we're expecting again on sunday (2nd cousin's birthday party... first time i've seen people since easter). really, i pretty much have to tell them because i'm going to need to breakout the maternity clothes i figure within a month. even now i'm pushing it a bit. i don't think i'm really even showing much, but things are all pushed up and my upper tummy is sticking out more than my lower tummy right now. i can't wait till it all becomes one tummy again.

my dad's side of the family already knows because my cousin and his wife are expecting their 2nd 2 months after i'm expecting my 2nd. our first babies are 2 months apart too -- very funny we're on the same schedule. so when my aunt mentioned it to my dad, he mentioned this baby as well. it's kinda funny we've made it to almost 5 months without telling the whole family -- i thought we were pushing it last time waiting till 4 months. ha!

back to work now for me!
I've been post here and in August since I'm due the 30th and could easily have the baby in either month.

I'm at 26 weeks now (measuring 32 at my last appt though!). It seems my belly is going through a huge growth spurt.

This guy is so much more active than dd was. I only ever felt her kicking down low and with him its up in my ribs, to the side, up, down, just everywhere! Its totally a new experience.

Right now I'm actually sitting with the computer speaker up against my belly. I'm hoping he likes Jack Johnson

I'm feeling alright but my sciatic pain hasn't gone away. With dd I had sciatic pain right away, like 5-6 weeks. I was expecting this time but I think it was closer to 8 weeks before it started. When I was preg with dd it all ended right at 20 weeks and never came back. This time I did experience some relief at 20ish weeks but its not gone away and in fact is getting more painful now. I was really hoping I'd get that good sleep I got with dd but its not happening, mostly from the back pain but also from general insomnia.

Overall things are going really well. He seems to be growing well and I'm looking forward to the rest of the pregnancy.

Goldie and marieangela.... I hope your constructions woes end soon!!!

cuiqui....Isn't this weather aweful? This is my only week with two vehicles (my parents are on vacation and we're borrowing one of theirs) and all my playgroups have been cancelled due to the horrible weather. UGH!!! We've been at my parents' house all week and I didn't pack any cold weather clothes for me...which is why we haven't left...I'd freeze to death in shorts and a t-shirt! :LOL At least it's supposed to be decent on Friday when I'm having a gathering at my parents' house. Yippee!

lori...Good luck making your announcement! Not showing yet??? Wow. My belly's as big as a friend's who is due in 3 weeks! Then again, this is my fourth in 6.5 years!

amarasmom... Sciatic pain is the worst, and not sleeping well makes it even worse!!! I hope by some miracle you're feeling and sleeping better soon!

Me...Still hanging out at my parents' house while they're on vacation. Before the weather here in CT turned really bad (40's, wind chills into the upper 30's!) I had the chance to relax in their hot tub a couple times...once under the stars, by myself - it was wonderful!
My preggo brain is getting the best of me! Last Friday I had to cancel my midwife appointment because two of my kids were sick. I left a message on their voicemail saying I'd call back to make an appointment. I keep forgetting to call! I called yesterday and the midwife was busy and no one else was in the office, so she asked me to call back at 4. I completely forgot! Hopefully I'll remember today, since as of tomorrow it's been 6 weeks since my last appointment and, because of movement I've been feeling pretty high up in my belly, I'm curious to see what I'm measuring at!

I hope everyone is having a great week!

It's finally Friday! I am soooo excited! I will have dh home and actually be able to get some real work done around the house. My ds only has one more week of school, so that kind of sucks, but I will be happy to have him home too.

My pregnant friend is still waiting for her dd to actually answer the eviction notice that has been issued. :LOL For her sake I hope it happens sometime this weekend or early next week, as I wouldn't want her to be feeling yucky for 2 more weeks.

I suppose I really don't have much to say. Not too much planned for today. Just the trip to see my Mom this weekend on Sunday. Hope everyone has a good weekend. I will try to check in tomorrow as well.

I just learned at yesterday's appointment with my midwife that my glucose test came back borderline but they decided to let me slide. She didn't seem too worried - in fact didn't even mention it until I asked. She just asked me if I ate sweets & told me to cut back. Now of course I'm all paranoid. Cause I really have been pretty healthy, except for my sweet tooth. But I guess this is a sign that I need to be even heathier. Drat! Can't a girl keep any vices during pregnancy?

Other than that all was well - strong heartbeat & measuring right on time.

I also got to see the birth center facilities yesterday. It was kind of a let down... But the nurse I met with was VERY into the idea of getting a tub for a waterbirth. And this morning I spoke with an aquaintence who just delivered there and she had a really positive experience (with the same midwife). It was reassuring to hear about her happy all natural birth, and helped put to rest a lot of my fears. So I guess I should just get over my homebirth longings (which I can't really afford) and accept this cruchy as possible hospital birth as what's right for right now. I'm sure that while I'm in labor the surroundings will just fade away anyhow.

And now I've got to get packing for the road trip... Take care all!

It's great to read everyone's updates!

I don't think I posted the results of last week's U/S. The measurements all looked good although a week behind what I think my EDD is... closer to the original estimate from the 6-wk U/S. I still think I'm going to go around the 22nd. And it's a.... girl! Probably. Well, maybe. She was sitting upright in my pelvis with her legs crossed, so we didn't get a good "parts" view like we did with DD. Basically, we couldn't find a penis so we're assuming it's a girl. Thankfully a lot of our newborn stuff is gender neutral. DH and I have both had a slight feeling it's a boy, so I won't fall off the table if "she" comes out with an extra appendage.

I still haven't gained any weight, but I definitely look pregnant. I bought a cute maternity swimsuit and wow! does it show off my belly. DH burst out laughing when I tried it on.

May I complain just a tiny bit? Ouch, ouch, ouch. My tailbone has hurt nearly since the beginning, and for a couple of months now I've had this burning pain up one butt cheek (sciatic nerve pain, maybe?). Plus all the ligament pain and crampiness. I feel old! It's so embarrassing to waddle around when my belly isn't unwieldy yet. Of course it's worth it, so I feel guilty complaining, but I wish it would let up just a little.

Take care, mamas!

I got a job! It's a very, very part time job (3-4 afternoons of work quarterly, working on a newsletter for a nonprofit) for not much pay, but it's a job! I don't even have any idea how much it pays (but I know it's not much!), but figure the money I make will be enough for dh and I to go on a date every once in a while...something we don't often get to do because we never have the money.

Speaking of dates...my dh and I didn't get to go to the movies earlier in the week as we'd planned, so we're going this evening. It will be interesting to see if our babysitter can successfully get the kids to bed! :LOL We may even call her after the movie to see if the kids are asleep and if they are, grab a bite to eat before we go home .

to all of you going through tough times. Take care of yourselves, mamas!

I'm jealous. Something happens to me when i'm pregnant. I can't knit, I can barely read (can't retain anything) and I am completely incapable of balancing our checkbook. Looking forward to having time to knit sometime in my future.

Nice to see other mama are picking up the pace of life as well. I'm exhausted right now from having a few busy weeks. DH took off Tuesday, so I get to co-parent for 4 days! Yeah!!!! I'm a SAHM, and DH has a long commute mixed with long work days, so I feel like a single parent during the week.

Anyone nesting yet? I keep thinking I need to wash some baby clothes now, so that I"m not waiting until the last minute. I need to get the supplies for my homebirth, investigate ordering the birthing tub, etc. I'm becoming a list maniac and it's hard to get things done with a 2 year old some days.

It's also becoming hotter here in the south. and I'm a sweaty mess my mid-day. I'm drinking lots of water and trying to remember to take my alfalfa (yuck) so that I can maintain my energy level and avoid dehydration.

Anyone plant a garden or flowers this spring? I delegated it to DH and DS who threw some seeds in the planters and ground yesterday.

Nothing much to say. Just ranting... glad you all are out there.
