And I have no idea what we are doing? Dh is going down next week to job hunt and apt. hunt...we are looking in the greenville and or/ newbern area....I've meandered through the internet but all I can find is superhigh rent complexes - what can I expect to pay for a 2bd that is decent? Are there any helpful sites that I've overlooked?

Jesse!!

I just saw this thread! We LOVED Greenville!! Lots of fun things, museums, playgroups, etc...

Have you tried www.rent.com ?

We lived in a town home and also at Wellingham Apts on Evans St. The town home was kiddy corner to PCMH (hospital).

Let me know specifically what you are looking for and I'll see if I can help you out.

Greenville Apartments

The above is a list of 60 Greenville apartments.

Let's see...

Greenville has tons of great restaruants, some museums, parks, ECU, Sams Club, Walmart, 2 malls, Petsmart, Office Depot, Best Buy, grocery stores galore, churches, etc...

Oh, you might want to look into Winterville which is very close in to Greenville.

My mind is reeling here, I am trying to think of helpful information. Atlantic Beach is just an hour away...

Here's a list of Winterville Apartments:

http://realestate.citysearch.com/sea...ty=winterville

LOL ok so there is only one listing there

Thanks Teresa
I fwded the link to my mom and dh, hopefully they see it today~

Tried responding earlier and discovered my kids had unplugged the keyboard, took me a half hour to figure out I had to shut off the computer, THEN plug it in, THEN turn on the whole computer

Anyways I haven't heard from Dh or Mom all week (but she sends me fwds? I hate that!) so I have no idea whatis happening or not happening and I'm a nervous wreck. The landlords here now want all their back rent (got notice on door today) and I'm sitting here helpless to do anything. Sigh.

Oh Jesse, that must be so stressful not knowing anything. You could take it as a good sign that all is well. They may be to busy with interviews, and signing a lease to get in touch with you?

There are tons of apartment in Greenville, so I don't think finding an affordable place to live will be difficult(and still be in a safe place).

What field of work is your DH in? Perhaps I could offer some suggestions.

Oh, and I was telling Mark yesterday that you were planning on moving to G'ville (often referred to as G'Vegas
: ) and he was like LETS MOVE BACK THERE!

We have been discussing moving out of state (out of country too) and had not even thought of moving back to Greenville.

So last night we sat down and REALLY talked about it.

Greenville has everything we need. ECU and Pitt Community College for education, libraries, book stores, parks, hospitals, etc It's like the big city I want to move to, but in a more compact version

So, we may just meet you all there.

BTW, among all the cool things, Barnes and Nobles has a toddler story time
As does the library

ainsley~

Isn't Greenville AWESOME!!! I am so excited about the possibility of moving back. It seems were were looking at other states for the same things found there. It's like moving out of North Carolina, while still being in North Carolina

I attribute this to it being a college town and people coming and staying from all over the US.

Heehee now I'm all excited~ I had heard great things about Greenville and was beginning to think I was wishful thinking. So far I think Dh has only looked around New Bern
: although I had suggested Greenville (through some influence spurred on by conversations here at MDC
) I forgot to ask him where exactly he looked
when he finally caught me in AIM yesturday - I had so much to tell him and talk about
Ms 20 Questions here, but heck I had not heard anything and was a wreck. All he told me was that he'd be leaving today if he found a place, or keep looking today and leave tomorrow (Thank goodness he has Monday off from work!) and said "no one wants to rent to a yankee with three kids"
. I think he also spent time working on getting a NC driver's license, and probably even insurance (Oour car insurance ran here, b/c we've been too broke to pay anything but grocery bills and gas and car pmt. and he was a day away from a suspended lisence. So he spent two days looking for car ins. and no one would give him any unless it was some outrageous amount!$!$ - anyway).

JOb search wise he says he spent an hour talking to an owner of an italianrestaurant and he'll have a job there upon moving down waiting tables. It' a start I guess. I admit I was disappointed at first but I''m over it. His job skills include food service and tons of management experience therin, security (short of armed) and fire safety/inspection, and the ever lovely retail (where he was always good at boosting sales)

Ok have a fussy baby, thanks so much for the encouragement mommas, I feel a lot more relaxed today about things. Now I just have to start packing

Jesse ~ I am SO SO glad you are feeling better about things now. Also glad you were able to talk to your DH.

I have NO idea why it's called G'Vegas. Maybe cause it's a boomin little town?

New Bern~ Awesome area! Very close to the beach and loaded with history. Tryon Palace is in New Bern.

If he is in the food service industry he will have plenty of restaurants to choose from in Greenville. Ham's, Rigozzi's, TGI Fridays, Marathon(Greek), Outback Steakhouse, Red Lobster, etc, etc...

For more about New Bern, try this site:

http://www.newbern.com/

That's strange about the renting for a large family...Are you trying to rent a house or an apartment?

Your car insurance will very according to your driving record, type of car, etc. I would suggest, if you don't drive and he is the only persontechnically driving the car, for him to say he is single. It will be a little less expensive.

Try Nationwide Insurance. We got a good deal with them and Mark had 5 points on his license.

Now I am so excited about trying to move back there. I am looking on the NC job listing sites to find something in Mark's field. WOOHOO! He is absolutely excited too!

We're trying to rent an apt. Well at least I assume so.

Dh has a great driving record, is over 25, and has been driving for nearly ten years. The problem ins. co's were having this time however is that I am not a licsenced driver. Oh right, I think he is finally no longer under all the bad statistics (other than being male) and they're looking for new ways to jack up the premiums, since it had never been a problem in the past. I think the next day he didn't mention me, and those ins. co's came up with new excuses for jacking up premiums. Ins. in NY is outrageous because so many things are mandatory, and the co's take atvantage of that. I'm fairly certain he wasn't going to mention being married while trying to get ins., if he had indeed tried.

Hey, if we wind up this close together we most certainly will have to meet up

I'll meet you guys for sure! Although, IRL I go by my first name:Laura. It was just too ordinary for a message board, and Ainsley is my middle name.

I don't know much about New Bern. I still think Greenville would be more diverse due to the college atmosphere. I know I know plenty of Yankees. LOL! If you have any names of prospective apts. or areas you are interested in, let me know if I can get you info. You can also check the local paper online at relector.com (I think). Anyway, they have rental ads too.

I agree with Laura that Greenville would have a more deverse group of people to meet. New Bern is a great histoircal location, but still lacks "difference". Ya know.

Another great thing about Greenville is that it is more centrally located, and really less expensive than New Bern (because of visitors).

Also your DH might try Rocky Mount, Wilson, Ayden, even Kinston for jobs and still get an apartment in Greenville. These places are pretty close in to Greenville. Mark worked in Tarboro which is a small little plip of a town while we lived in the townhouse in Greenville.

So far I haven't found anything excpet one position in Mark's field, and it is much less money than he is making now. With a higher rent that won't do for us now
But I am still determined to find something. Of course I have found several aparments I would love to live in

Well I finally got to talk with dh last night in IM - he seemed pretty discouraged
I wound up blowing up at him but fortunately the AOL at his end booted him off before I got to that part
I guess we're both fustrated. Mom seemed to be hinting that he didnt' look hard enough for a job. Dh coudlnt' insure the car because no one would take an out of state check, he finally had a guy interested in renting to him but he said he never called back (I said to call him then, duh!) and he pretty much went from it might work to it was a disaster and waste of money and time. I suggested Greenville and he didn't appear interested.
I'm disapointed but trying to not be disappointed in him.I'm really nervous because there's no where in NY I want to live anymore. I don't think there's any place we can afford -we've btdt and this current place was a godsend (subsidized housing). I could kick myself for sccrewing it up and getting us kicked out. Dh says I shouldn't blame myself but I do.
I dont now, maybe I'll get an email with better news later
Thanks for all the help and support/suggestions mommas.

Sorry to vent. I Hope you dh finds what he is looking for
I'm going to send an email to Dh (though he probably won't read it
an reiterate looking at Greenville. New Bern was beautiful yes, and I agree very historic, and I had/have a feeling that's going to jack up rent a bit... ok baby needs me - thanks again

Packing?? OMG dont' remind me! I still dont have boxes and have little done. I'm freaked that this move is going to be half - done and I'll have moved everything I didnt' want and nothing I wanted LOL.

I kept meaning to come back here and update
Had a lot on my mind I guess
I got the news yesturday that Dh has signed a lease and has handed it in this morning (per the plan) for a one level 3 bd house in New Bern. So New Bern it is
Just dont' know about the job yet. It's been hard for him to get ahold of me (via AIM) because my mom's computer is wacky (and we don't have a phone) so it hasn't been often I'd get any info. Its' been nearly two weeks now and I'm going a little nuts! I want him home!

So it looks like right now we will be out of here by the 31st - nothing is set in stone yet other than yes we are leaving!! The sooner the better...I just got court papers today for the rent we owe
