Hope y'all don't mind me starting a new thread. The other one was long, and I feel more pg when we're on thread 2.
LOL

Here's a link to the last thread: May #1

Maybe KKMama (?) will chime in with our roll call.

Thanks for the well wishes OlyMama. I know exaclty what you mean about wondering if everything is OK in there. I had a hard time getting excited until I *knew* for sure a lil' someone was in there.
Just wanted to let you know I changed insurances when I was pg with my dd, and theyy didn't consider pg a preexisting condition, which I was worried about as well. Hopefully the same will be true with your ins. co.

owen&mama, hate to burst your bubble, but zantac was on a list of do not take meds my OB just gave me.
The OK list was tums, rolaids, Gas x or Mylanta. With that said, I took a class B prescription GERD medicine when pg with dd, and she's fine. So I guess if your OB is OK with it, then....do whatever you feel comfortable with.

How's everyone feeling? For some strange reason, other than extreme fatigue, and the occasional nausea, I"m OK.

I'm all excited, I ordered a few maternity things from JCPenney over the weekend, and they shipped today, so I'll be stalking the mailbox for them early next week. I'm getting a lil' pouch, but I'm nowhere near needing mat. pants, I just look fat in my old pants. I hate the in between stage. I feel so yucky in whatever I wear.

Hope you all have great weekend plans. We were supposed to be moving over the weekend, but our house isn't finished yet, so it looks like it will be Tuesday, smack dab in the middle of the work week.

Have a great day gals!

Yeah....consider my bubble burst.....

Oddly, the heartburn hasn't been nearly so bad today (knock on wood), and my plan is just to battle it with tums for the time being. My sister just told me that papaya helped her - chewable tablets from the health food store. Anyone heard of that?

Oops...gotta run. Late for a meeting...

Hi all.

I have kind of a silly question: Is there a soap that is ok to use to clean vaginally? All that I have read says to use only water, but I wondered if maybe something like Johnsons baby bath would be ok to use. Anyone have any ideas??

I'd have to agree with you Sarah'sMamma- I'm very tired and have some nausea and heartburn, but no real morning sickness yet. (knock on wood)

Well, hope everyone's hangin' in there.

shucks, owen&mama, I really hope I didn't come off as sounding like a knowitall or anything. I didn't mean it in that sense.
I know how it feels to want relief from heartburn. I had it bad when I was pg with dd, and she's a redhead, so, go figure

Owen&mama - I've heard that chewable papaya enzymes (I think) help heartburn. Good luck! Milk always helped me too when it was mild.

Kidatheart - I always just use water only.

I'm feeling better than I was a few days ago. DS got a cold and was up literally all night for 2 nights and I thought I was going to go insane but he's sleeping again now. I've caught his cold but it isn't too bad and I haven't felt naseous at all since I got congested. I don't know which I'd rather have.....

Oh, Sarah'smama....you didn't come across badly at all! I just feel like a dope blindly following my OBs advice. After all, I have the Hale Medications & Mother's Milk book sitting right here in my office and didn't check it until you and rubelin said something....
: Even my sister scolded me.

Well, that's why we're here, right? For advice, support, and commiseration. I'm just glad that you guys set me straight.

I'm gonna try the papaya for sure, I think. And pray that the next four weeks pass quickly!

kidatheart, I'm also a water only cleaner...sorry couldn't be more helpful.

owen&mama, definitely try the papaya...they worked wonders for me.

Sarah'sMama, I'm a mailbox stalker, too! My mom got me some stuff at an outlet...and I've been waiting all week for it.

Thanks to all the mama's who let me know how they approach live music shows and festival with little ones. I think DH and I will probably stick to mellower outdoor shows and a few festivals (Telluride is a must!) while the kiddos are young. We definitely want to expose them to all sorts of music. And maybe we'll hit a few other shows ourselves.

Otherwise, I'm doing alright...some nausea and a bit o' fatigue by the end of the week, but I'm able to eat (although some mighty odd things).

Oops... I posted 2 messages on the old thread. Here they are, pasted together.

Ug. I got up in the middle of the night to throw up a cup of herbal tea. It was not pretty. And I've been paying for it ever since.

I found out that I'm anemic... at my annual 2 months ago, my iron was fine, but now I'm down to 32. I'm resuming taking the iron pills, even though I'm concerned about constipation and upset tummy. And it was a "blood strengthening" herbal tea that I barfed...

Ds had a dr's appt yesterday, and we chatted about the ob's office and my pregnancy, too. He was so very kind about how I'm feeling (he's a very nice person *and* a good dr.). He told me that the ob I saw *is* very young and inexperienced, but that nature would remove her as an obstacle from my birth (because she's pg and further along than I am). He also urged me to share my concerns about her with my regular ob (who is one of the senior partners). I also got info from the office about how to get stats from the hospital about each dr. The c/s rate for the practice is 14%, which is not perfect, but still much lower than the national average. And episiotomies are extremely rare.

I've just been feeling sick and miserable. Dh and I talked about it, and he was very sweet. Basically, I'm going to eliminate almost all of my "obligations" and just focus on feeling as good as possible. I feel like a "drag" on the household right now, but I'm optimistic that in a few months, my energy will return.

I hope the rest of you are taking care of yourselves, too.

Kristine

I took the maybes the and the early April mama off.

Scbegonias--I can't go to live music unless it's smoke-free... I'm allergic to cig smoke, and it makes me really sick.

Karenpl--I crave citrus fruits, and my house is a disaster (till dh picks up... he's doing everything now... sigh).

OlyMama--that "baby makes 4" article made me really sad, too... With ds, I couldn't stand chocolate during pg. With this one, it's okay, not spectacular.

Jacqulyn--what did your dr say about the pains?

Sarah'sMama--I've been trying to schedule an early u/s (~11 weeks), and we'll probably do the 20 wk one, too. I can't believe that I'll be "half done" in mid-December...

Owen&mama--I am super careful about medications during pg... I think you can't be too careful. The thing that helped me the most with hb with ds was being careful to eat bland food in small quantities and to stay upright for a couple of hours afterward. I also slept somewhat propped up...

I'm not supossed to be using soap "down there"? While I'm pregnant or all the time? I use natural soaps and never really thought about it...

Sherri, thank you for letting me know about your experience with insurance companies. I'm going to call and ask w/o letting them know who I am. For all of my dislike of doctors and not wanting interferences I sure am ready to get in there and find out when I'm due. If it's in June will you guys still like me and let me hang out with you? I like you all so much and feel so comfortable here.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's house is a wreck. I'm not a super neat person, but I feel so much better when everything is straightened up and right now it's just awful. There are dishes stacked up and toys everywhere and as much as I don't like it I don't feel like doing anything about it, either. I've also taken to hanging out all the time in jammies until we go somewhere. Seems a little early in the pregnancy for that!

KKMama I hope you start feeling better soon. I'm glad your dh is being supportive. That is key. Just take it easy on your body until it's ready for more.

I am SO SICK. i am throwing a pity party for myself...this pregnancy is turning out just like my last one. i am VERY nauseaus- ie gagging- from the second i open my eyes in the AM till i close them the next night. and scattered in between that are the times i actually throw up.. except this time its worse because i have to care for DS, DSS and three other toddlers..cooking for them is basically like torture. eve if i find a food i think i can eat, i will probably throw it up.
My house is a disater area!

i have no energy to clean and i just keep telling myself i will do the laundry, clean the rabbits cage, do dishes when i feel less like throwing up, but i havnt had that happen this week..
anyone else out there with no break from this "MORNING SICKNESS" ??

I'm really sorry, Liz. I have endless nausea, but I've only thrown up 4 times (and I think I'm 2-3 weeks further along than you are). With ds, I was throwing up 3-4 times a day, every day, so even though this current state of affairs sucks, it seems a whole lot better. I hear you about feeling like crap and taking care of kid(s) and home, though. Ds and I are doing a lot of quiet activities, and the house is a disaster. I can't deal with going to the grocery store, either.

I'm counting the weeks. With ds, I was sick for 6-7 months, but this time, because it's so much milder and started later, I've convinced myself that it will be gone by ~14 weeks. I hope I'm not wrong. (That means I'm desperately looking forward to early November.) I'm really hoping to enjoy Thanksgiving this time around... when I was pg with ds, it was hideous, and it's my favorite holiday.

I can't even imagine cleaning rabbit cages with m/s. I can barely change a poopy diaper.

Liz - I am so sorry. I really hope you feel better soon. Have you talked to your doctor or midwife about any medications? I can't imagine how hard it must be to make it through the day feeling so bad, especially looking after all those kiddos. Hopefully it is almost gone. (((hugs)))

kristine and suzie- thanks for your kind words.

i cant stand going to the grocery store either, all the food is tourture...but at the same time i get nauseous looking for books at the library. my midwife recommends B6...i tried that two days ago, after eating and i threw up the worst yet...it would almost be funny if it wasnt so sad!
with DS my sickness was gone by 14 weeks, so i can counting the days right now...i love pregnancy, just not the first part!!!
hold in there kristine, it WILL be gone by nov. ~~~keepiong my fingers crossed for both of us!~~~~

Liz,
I feel the exact same way. SOOOO sick and so tired of being sick. My only relief is when I'm sleeping. Got some meds for it but they aren't helping. I am NOT going through this again. It's one thing with no kids yet, but with a 3yo and 10 yo at home all the time (homeschooling) I feel like I'm totally neglecting them. Dishes and laundry are stacked to the ceiling. You can't walk through any room without having to clear a path for yourself or stepping on little toys on your way through. I would be mortified if anyone came over and saw this place. Even if I had the stomach for it, I have 0 energy to do anything. Husband is working very late hours. He tries to help, but he's real tired by the time he gets home. AHHHHH! I know this will pass. I just want it over NOW. Anyway, just know you're not the only one going through it right now. I'm miserable and can't wait for this part to be over so I can start enjoying the idea of having another little one.

I'm sorry that others are sick too, but at least I feel like I'm not suffering alone.
Wendy, you said pretty much what I'm feeling. I had an *awesome* 3rd trimester with ds, and I'm just looking forward to the pregnancy getting better and better (well, after Nov. arrives). And the good stuff is ahead... feeling the baby move, and the prize at the end (the baby!).

I have a couple of friends who are pregnant with their first babies and due any second now, and I should be putting together nice packages and mailing them (like Lansinoh and a good breastfeeding book). Maybe I'll make that my "project" for this week.

hi mamas,

just found this forum today, and so happy you guys are here! i'm 7 weeks along, due may 21, and 33 years old. still interviewing midwives, but we're lucky to have several practices quite close to our house. this will be my first home birth, possibly water birth. we're starting to get excited, although it still seems very abstract at this point.

as for symptoms, i've got it pretty easy: the boobs are taking over the house, and i have a little nausea/unsettledness, but i haven't actually puked. geez, what a strange way to introduce myself.

anyway, if you've got room for one more, i'll just be over here on the couch, drinking liters of water at a time--

Welcome Jennifer, and congratulations!

None of us should feel guilty for not cleaning like we should, we are busy doing a much more important job. .... At least that's what I tell myself everytime I look at the clutter that has absolutely taken over my house and start feeling panicked that it is never going away. DH has been working nights the past 2 months, 12-14 hr shifts, so I really haven't gotten anything done. He's going back to days any time now and I am so glad I will have more time (and help!) to get things done.

Well, this new thread certainly sounds like a bunch of definitely pregnant ladies! I remember a few pages ago people wishing for m/s
. After a very scary couple of days and a long day at the DR. I am just fine. I was probed and prodded for a few hours, even got an internal ultrasound...finally able to locate a heartbeat and it was very comforting and reassuring. I am beginning to feel those twinges of m/s and man, I feel for you ladies. I hope it all passes for you sooner than later.

Welcome, Jennifer! Glad you're here.

So sorry to hear about how poorly everyone's feeling. I hate to even say it, but so far, I've just had a little morning nausea, and some later in the day if I don't eat, but that's it.

BUT, just so you don't think I'm bragging
ag, I am still dealing with the lingering effects of this darn cold! I'm totally exhausted anyway, and add to that the fact that my body is trying to heal itself from this cold and I'm one tired gal. We went to Colorado this weekend, also (that's where we're from and we'll be moving back there after the little bean is born). We saw lots of friends, which was great, but totally exhausting. We didn't tell anyone back home just because we're not telling everyone for another few weeks. So, I guess it was good that I had an excuse for my tiredness besides the fact that I'm pregnant!
I'm sure a few days of rest should fix me right up, so that's what I plan to do the next few evenings after work.

I did discover while digging out my winter clothes for the Colorado trip that I have more of a pooch than normal. I'm normally a rounder gal anyway, so to speak, but for my clothes to fit everywhere (even the hips) and yet my stomach pooches out, this is definitely new. And, I'm only in my 7th week!

I met with two home-birth midwives last week and really liked both of them, so now I'm calling their references to make a decision. This is tougher than I thought!

I'm sending lots of healing, calming vibes to all of you with vicious m/s. I'm sure I'll be with you soon enough.

Yep, that was me several weeks ago wishing for morning sickness.
: I am right there with many of you all - wondering how I'm going to get through through the days..... I just hope that it ends by the 14th week like last time. This first tri is for the birds! Wendy, you said it best when you said you wanted this to end so that you could start looking forward to having the baby!

Welcome Jennifer!
